Game Day: Warriors v Manly [Round 20, 2020]

We got some players coming in they will help and a lot of stars on the sidelines. Only two positions I think haven't been resolved is the extra prop and a bloody winger! Paeska and Marty were very strong today but don't have much else. Hopefully Garrick gets swopped for Saab but not sure who plays on the other wing. Let too many tries in through not defusing kicks or coming in off bad reads

It is not normal for Manly teams to only win just one game this year at our fortress and get regular thrashings .

Not me mate. I know he's now only played 5 first grade games, but I have seen nothing from Albert Hopoate to suggest that he's anything more than an injury or suspension backup at this stage.

Funa and Schuster yes, they have played OK (Funa not always, but his effort is certainly there). Hopoate on the other hand, for all the hype, for all the BS about wanting a contract upgrade, has been a major disappointment.

I think Keppie will only get better.Problem the bench props have had this year was that Hasler relied too much on Taupau and AFB,somewhat justifiable,but it meant the likes of Paseka and Keppie,saw limited time off the bench.In past years,Hasler would drop one of the props down to NSW Cup to get a good hit out down there and then bring them back up,but unfortunately they didn’t have that option this year.Once again though,Olakau’atu proved he needs to be playing and someone in the media needs to ask Des the hard question why he was brushed this season

It really was a disappointing finish. Decent old start, roar out to 10-0 without any fuss and the game turns on an errant kick from them and our 1 and 7 get in each others way and spill the pill gifting the Warriors a try and a passage into the game, 10 minutes later we are 10-20 down. This in a nutshell is our problem, no resilience or character without the ball!

It then becomes a you score, I score contest and for those out there who enjoy games like this well you are welcome to it. a game when its 8 tries to 6 is not a good game of footy!!!

It is clear that we have a big issue with our depth. Players like Garrick, Croker, Levi,Miski, Hoppa and Co are at this stage reserve grade standard and get found out time and time again defensively especially.

The stat this year about tries conceded from kicks is staggering. Another four today and our guys have no confidence under the high ball or when its on the ground. It is our achillies heel!!

DCE did some good things, tried hard and again a few howlers in his game. We so need a half alongside him or a 9 to manage a game as we have no composure with the ball at times especially on the last. We barely get any resets or score from kicks. Its something that needs to change in 2021.

You cannot afford to go into a season and not have a settled spine, ours got blown up with the Fainu problem and letting Api go and once Tom and Dylan got hurt we were shot to pieces for 2020.

We have a lot of work to do to get things right for 2021. We need the club to announce some signings and get a structure in place where our first team and reserve graders are fitter, faster and all on the same page because at times this year we played like a pack of strangers!!

would of been nice for him to come out and say this

to all our members and fans were screwed up this season it’s not acceptable by my standards and as a club we are hurting with you.

Agree on Quac. I like him. Who knows, we may see Sipley get back to his best next year which would be nice

Getting some players back will help DCE but the biggest glaring area that needs fixing is the defence, especially the sliding defence and defusing kicks.

I really like keppie but to me he is a backrower in a props body, but to slow to be a backrower

I hope he improves, just looks either a bit unfit or lazy. Not that mobile so can miss a few tackles around the ruck but he does try and bend the line and often stands in tackles, rarely gets man handled

I dont think you can put Funa in the same class and ability as Schuster .

Funa played ok but in order for our team to be a premiership threat we want our players not to be just OK against the opposition ,We want them to TKO the opposition. Without Tommy the backs are no threat and it has been proven all year.

We have a zero overall kicking game
We get zero set restarts

So our big boppers are up and down the field all day

We have no tools other than the opposition imploding to reverse momentun

But trick shots we have ,mand we are not afraid to use them , especially when common sense says we shouldn't

Thats why we surprise ourselves . Everybody loves surprises

My reference to normality had nothing to do with win loss at Brookvale and more rational thinking

He may have gone OKish today for the most part, but unfortunately every other game this year that he has started at 5/8 (and the one he started at dummy half), Croker has been absolutely horrible.

The only time he played well at 5/8 all year was when Walker broke his foot early against Canberra.

good players seem to have plenty of time, he always looks rushed.

it’s the biggest thing in 2021 I want to see changed our resilience in defence and be way more hungry wanting to hurt the opposition with it like past great teams.

Its like a 6 yo playing his 10 yo brother. Loves it when he has the ball but knows once the 10 yo gets it , he is never getting it back , so goes inside for cookies and a cuddle from mum.
