I dont think you can put Funa in the same class and ability as Schuster .

Funa played ok but in order for our team to be a premiership threat we want our players not to be just OK against the opposition ,We want them to TKO the opposition. Without Tommy the backs are no threat and it has been proven all year.
I like funa. Sure sometimes he is out of position but I think in time he will be a handy back up fullback. A definite upgrade on Elliot and effing Garrick who is a muppet.

I see potential in Funa. With further experience, and the right continual guidance, he could become a very decent player, and possibly more than a decent back up.

Players missing from this game that we will have next year
Turbo
Walker
Suli
Saab
Foran
Schuster
Cust
Fainu
Garner
Davey
Gosiewski
Its not all doom and gloom as people may think. Apart from Chez it was our Blacktown backline and spine

He may have gone OKish today for the most part, but unfortunately every other game this year that he has started at 5/8 (and the one he started at dummy half), Croker has been absolutely horrible.

The only time he played well at 5/8 all year was when Walker broke his foot early against Canberra.
True. Only members of his immediate family MIGHT disagree that he’s had some (80%) shockers but I do wonder if Froggy in the 7 and Cherry in the 6 might have worked better.

Do we have Saab for next season? Has it been confirmed yet? I'm seeing quite a bit of confusion around this alleged player swap with the Carrot.

Manly rely on posession for momentum They either get that from the ref or from scoring and getting the ball back. When we stop scoring and the ref uses the other arm we have nothing because

We have zero game management
We have a zero overall kicking game
We get zero set restarts

So our big boppers are up and down the field all day

We have no tools other than the opposition imploding to reverse momentun

But trick shots we have ,mand we are not afraid to use them , especially when common sense says we shouldn't

Thats why we surprise ourselves . Everybody loves surprises
I would say biggest concern is still the defence. We cannot defuse kicks and still struggle with the sliding defence. We gift opposition points and boy do we let in some soft tries

Yeah its not good any more. Maybe they have lost belief in the up and in style . Cartwright timing was ominous i thought

Funnily though the defence looked much worse since we lost players that are noted attackers rather than defenders but tom does marshall them from behind

It looks like poor attitude. Which came first is the question from within. I think we can still defend but the heart isnt in it. I think des conceded the season some time back which is very un like desmond

I still think our forwards would appreciate a spell by gaining field position with the boot. It was virtually non existent today

Its either that or the team is split as some have suggested.

I think the hit Keppie put on their kicker was about the first time all year we have tried to pressure an opposition kicker. Often our own kicks are hurried and ineffective due to pressure, but the opposition have all afternoon to size up their attacking kick. Result being our wingers under seige and try, try, try.
Are we not fit enough to rush up on the kicker? Or we just don't think of it? What the dickens, I thought that was one of the so-called fundamentals of the game!

Just attitude. Can be fixed. We will be better next year.

Just on giving the forwards a spell, I wonder if NRL will adopt the rule about no scrums when the ball has been kicked into touch in 2021. Even more a case for fitter forwards with less stoppages to go with the 6 to go rule

It looks like poor attitude.
And poor direction - DCE has been our only effective half with our top spine missing nearly all year. Bottom eight teams performing well at the back end of the season have had both halves firing, e.g. Taylor & Fogarty for the Titans and CHT & Nikorima for the Warriors. The top eight teams with some possibility of winning the comp all have very potent spines - Panthers, Storm, Roosters, Rabbitohs (less so, the Raiders).

I think you mean a bigger disaster. I just watched the Saints Storm game and I wonder if DCE had less responsibility and more room to move if he could attack like Dufty. They seem to have a similar skill set and style.

SET RESTARTS

1st Half:

Warriors:
3 (4) - Tackle Number: 1, 1, 1.

* * * According to the Fox Coverage, the Warriors did get a set restart come up on the screen at the 16:22 mark on the 4th tackle when Waddell grabbed the ball from an offside position and was penalised but after replaying the tackle and the previous tackle to that numerous times, nowhere could I hear a set restart called by the referee or the set restart whistle at any time. * * *

Manly: 3 - Tackle Number: 2, 1, 2.

2nd Half:

Warriors:
2 - Tackle Number: 1, 2.
Manly: 2 - Tackle Number: 2, 4.

GAME TOTAL:

Warriors:
5 (6)
Manly: 5

FOX SPORTS, FOX LEAGUE STATS has the figure as Warriors: 6, Manly: 5

And dragons win means we finish in 13th place this year not good enough and embarrassing for our once proud club.

I believe Tyfuna and Harper are better centres than Suli and Walker, and Miss Key is a better winger than Jorge. It's time to select players on form, not on reputation.

Back from Gosford....feel better than last week after that game. It was always going to be difficult to win under the special circumstances and if there was any team I wouldn't mind losing to, it was the Warriors.

At least we showed up, certainly at the start and for some of the game...only a pity it wasn't for the whole game!

Strangest sight - instead of Burbo, AFB was ballboy!?!

Nice touches - playing Eagle Rock as Manly came on at the start and after HT (though it was our away game), Manly players formed a guard of honour and applauded the Warriors when they entered, Marty, Levi and Harper joining in the haka for Blair at the end and the tribute paid to the Warriors by the NRL for making 2020 possible and all their sacrifices.

Despite my initial reluctance, I'm glad I made the trek. Just a shame we lost on what was otherwise a nice afternoon and atmosphere. Bring on 2021!
