Snake back to training tomorrow???

Seriously .... he fuchen sacked 20 fukin players last year ... do you seriously think the players think he is one of the boys!!!!

Fuch me sideways on a Sunday, can't you people just enjoy a happy photo without inventing negative sht
Did he sack them, or did Zorba and Fulton? See, the fact that he seems at least seven steps removed from having any real power over the team also concerns me.
I get your point, Woodsie, and I know it's looking for trouble where there might not be any, but Barrett better get used to the scrutiny if the team's results don't improve. I said it when he was appointed: he's got no goodwill with Manly supporters and he's on a hiding to nothing. I feel for him, I really do. He's been thrown in at the deep end. And, so far, he's barely treading water. Up till this point he's done nothing to inspire me to believe he's going to be a successful NRL head coach. But I hope he proves me wrong.

I think he got a rough idea of the type of "scrutiny" he will be subjected to last year. The pathetic nature of it was gobsmacking, we even had him blamed for DCE kicking out on the full once.

It is the relentless pervasion of it in every single thread by a handful of "I told you when he was appointed" experts who are still bumhurt over Toovey being sacked. I too, deplore the sacking of Toovey, but it had nothing to do with Barrett, and I am not going to death ride him because of it..

whilst you have your opinion,, I have mine .... and again what should be a pleasant posting and discussion of a team photo has been hijacked into a miserable discussion about sack Barrett.

again mission accomplished.

Your a champion Woodsie. If he wasn't holding a beer they would be having a crack at him for being a Chardonnay drinker. FMD the poor bastard can't win.

Sorry about the dummy spit Ron E. The constant bagging of the bloke just gets me nose out of joint some times. Apologies.

This bagging of Barrett seems to lack perspective in the light of what has happened to Manly. I'm not saying he's going to be a good coach, but fair dinkum give the guy a chance. He took a team well on the slide, a team that had performed no better for Toovey the year before. With the injuries to so many players, especially the remaining stars, I would have been surprised if Jack Gibson could have lifted them into the 8.

Seems we need to remember the last time we were in this position back in 2003-4. Des Hasler took on the team in 2004, that had not performed under Sharpe in 2003. His team included the two Stewart brothers, Watmough, King, Menzies, Donald, Hicks, Monaghan to name a few, all young, and they were given a pasting that year. They also finished 13th but that comp only had 15 teams. They were smashed several times during the year suffering Manly's worst defeat ever against Penrith conceding 72 points. They were beaten on four other occasions by 50 or more and twice by 48. They conceded 754 points, compared to 2016's, 563 points. They also copped a bad injury hit having to use 30 players compared to 2016's 31.

Hasler had reserve grade experience but this was his first time in the big league. He had things to learn and back in 2004, no doubt the same thoughts were going through supporters heads as to whether he could handle the job. The following year he improved, but was still shaky. By his third year he was on his way, with a by then experienced and talented squad. Barrett needs the same patience. He's facing the same situation and judging him on 2016 alone is like telling Hasler to p.ss off in 2004.

Certainly not back at training yet. This popped up on Shaun Lane's Instagram, good to see the boys having a bit of fun for Australia Day, including T Baz.

No problem, Woodsie, and completely understandable.
I don't want to see Barrett sacked. Like you, and Bearfax, I believe he needs to be given more time. Problem is, I don't think he'll get it. Given what he's got to work with - essentially a brand new team for the second year in a row - the expectations are just too high. The owners have publicly demanded results. And the fans aren't used to losing - they want success and they want it now.
We were a long way off the pace last season and I suspect we'll be a long way off the pace this season. I'm okay with that. But not everyone's as patient as I am.🙂

Like any "sensible" supporter, of course I want to see Trent succeed. I just want him to be his own man and be respected by the group. If he can't do this, he and the team will be under pressure. Trent success is Manly success, why the hell would anyone death ride him before a ball has been kicked. Woodsie....have a schooey mate 🙂

No DCE is holding a ball too I think he is secretly feuding with Barrett and has dreams of being a spinner in 20-20 (I don't watch cricket so sorry but that's the best I could come up with)
