Kelma Tuilagi

I wouldn't write anyone off before they come to the club remember when Lawton first signed and most thought he was just injury prone or whatever look how he has turned out.

People that write anyone off completely
Are the people that write their own obituary before they die

I'm old but old school is not always intelligent. Sometimes its out of touch, stubborn and some might say blind. I agree that anybody that is being paid to provide physical labor should be trying their best. But we are talking about full time élite athletes playing at a level where the only edge they may have over their competitors could be confidence and self belief on the day. But trying hard (as we have all seen) does not necessarily equate to performance. If players aren't in a good frame of mind there performance will drop. They are not machines and need to feel good about themselves, have confidence in the players they play alongside and trust in the systems they are asked to follow. They need to believe in those that coach them and those that provide them guidance. We have all seen how a player's performance can lift when they change clubs and that because its a reboot that enables them to refocus. I wouldn't judge the kid just yet.

I am talking about blokes that would deliberately not have a go ... not fellas struggling with issues being below par ..

I think he is a upgrade on Davey and will be better in a Manly jumper, but I don’t think he will become elite. I can see him being really good for us, but I’m not envisaging him taking the NRL by storm.

Given he is our only signing of note at this stage, probably goes someway to explaining the level of focus placed on the guy.

But these are elite athletes like you say. It's their entire job / existence to perform at their best , regardless of the challenges they have to overcome.

If a player drops below optimal performance due to third party situations (coach being sacked, get more money elsewhere, doesn't get on with X as examples), then that's just an excuse. That's versus a player who has an injury they are carrying, yet are playing at 100% of the possible performance anyways.

One is a testament to character, the other a testament to performance.

We need to he careful with mistaking lack of character with being out of form.

We need to be careful of making judgements with no information and only speculation.

Imagine, say.... Ray Price needing to feel good about himself to enable him to perform.

Maybe it's just the times.. .
In those days they also taught religion in public schools because people believed it to be true,I think it is the times...good or bad is debatable I guess.
Some people are born or develop self confidence early and some live with doubts all their life,it should not be a negative to judge a person by no matter if they are an athlete,an accountant or in the army.

If he is an upgrade on Davey then he will be a very good buy. Davey runs hard, tackles hard and does a lot of the dirty work. Hope Kelma has the same work ethic.

Credit to Davey, he has been solid, but that’s it.

Interesting that after being put back on the left side and outside a half with the ability to utilize him and with a plan to use him properly he has a pretty impressive game.
I did not see a guy going through the motions until next year, certainly did not look like a spoilt brat or someone of questionable character,so maybe those traits are off the table.....
Garner on the right did not do a lot, although with Doueihi back in the side on the right he will probably get more use if both players stick to those sides(cue the rubbish about how every player in every position should be able play left, right, centre and anywhere because back in the day that was how it was)

I know there has been reports of him joining Manly next season but I haven't heard anything official from Manly yet. I wonder why the club has not confirmed this signing?
