Gutherson & Knight

Whilst I for one hate seeing talent released only to be picked up by the competition, especially the Eels from whom we have been poaching for so many years, I can only assume there is reason behind the logic, as illogical as it may be, to release Gutherson with speculation Knight is the next to go.

In saying this I for one must have faith in Bozos decisions and our new coach in turning this club around and preparing it for the next decade of dominance. Recalling the dark days of the Beagles makes what we are going through now a minor blimp.

As I recall at the end of the Beagle days, it was Fulton , Arthurson and others who were instrumental in resurrecting this great club as we know it today? Was it not Bozo who took a punt on selecting a coach who had absolutely no experience at any grade whatsoever and guided him in the early days?

What may be will be we can only go along for the ride!

Peter Sharp? Bozo has been past it for a long time.

I feel gutted. There might be a good reason that is not obvious to us on here but I have no clue. One of the things I love is to follow a young sportsmans career. I saw Gutho play for 20's and NSW junior rep side. I just believed he was going to be something very special. It will not be anywhere near the same if he plays for another team.

I loved watching Tommy Turbo play. No one else in our team would have scored that try against Sharks. When a player got injured (Hiku etc) we got lucky because we had a better match winner waiting to slot in.

These guys were going to be our future. You lose a lot of matches because you have older players stuck there on big money who often did wonderfully things 2 years ago.

ok enough rambling. I might come back in 5 months and see what the team looks like.

There will always be a place in the team for some of those older guys. They allow ZtH some semblance of relevance in the second decade of the 21st Century.

Manly have issued a stern ‘hands off’ to rivals clubs circling boom front-rower Liam Knight.
“Due to recent media speculation, the club wish to clarify the contractual status of outstanding young NYC under-20s prop Liam Knight.
“Liam has had an outstanding season and was presented with the club’s NYC Best and Fairest accolade.
“Liam is under contract for the 2016 season. The club will continue to develop Liam to ensure that he pushes for NRL selection in the near future.”
The Roosters are among the clubs believed to be interested in the ball-playing 20-year-old, who will line up for Manly against Penrith in the Holden Cup grand final on Sunday.
But the Sea Eagles have made it clear Knight is going nowhere.

.... but because the club has extended the contracts of several older players and added to its depth we feel it is in the best interests of Liam to release him to Parramatta.....
Sorry, I must be quoting from the wrong press release.

How can you compare Gutherson to Hiku. Sure Hiku has his moments but he's an international and completely outplayed Inglis in the biggest Test match in the last 3 years.

Right so does that mean Gutherson just cannot end up better than Hiku? Of course not. I would have released Hiku and kept Gutherson. That would have freed up more money, and we would end up with a better player in my opinion (at least in the mid to long term) and an excellent goal kicker to boot.

Hiku on club performances should be in NSW cup. Not our number one fullback and constantly gets found out in defence on the wing by coming in and not staying on his man.
Really not happy with Manly's overall recruitment for 2016.
Get Malagi he didn't even make the bench for the Rorters.

Sorry @BOZO , but u must live in a dream world my feathered friend. All this has been said about every player that we had and let go....The place is being run by fools IMO and we as "members" get told sweet FA, but can read it thru the various spin articles the Fat Greek Leak writes for.

Hiku and Jorge will come back from an NZ Tour of UK buggered.
The snow will freeze their bollocks and Manly won't have them firing at the start of the season :wondering:
