If Siebold is as smart as people are saying I look forward to us moving on from being the dumbest team in the NRL. I'm not holding my breath though.
Dont hold your breath feathered friend

Just keep your hopes up and hope he turns out a winner

and there is a very good chance he will

Thanks for the considered rant h2727!
Few things.
1. The Souths players got on well with him and perfectly understood what he was trying to do with them. Hence, Coach of the Year.
2. I keep reading that in the modern game (hate that term) that it's the assistants who have to have the great relationships with the players because the head coach has so much more on his plate.
3. Still unconvinced of the perceived intelligence of DCE (I say that as a fellow smart person 😉)
I'd imagine you're on the money about assistants. And while im obviously not happy with the whole situation I do think Flanagan is a suitable acquisition irrespective of who the main coach is. I know he didn't seem to do much for the Dragons (to be fair who would) but I think he has a lot of motivation to put himself in the frame again and appears quite savvy. Agree with point 3 too, although my opinion of him continues to change hour by hour so I don't know what to think anymore :drunk:

Point 1 im 50/50. 2018 did seem like a good bounce back year for Souths but just looking back at their squad now it was really quite stacked (mixed with both experience and some youth). They burned out after that premiership and it was definitely the right time to let Madge go that's for sure.

I say this as someone who is not intelligent yet less so every year.
I think most are in the same boat!

As time goes on, (and beers are had), braincells see an opportunity to leave and flee at the first opportunity

Haha point and case, funny error that one in context!

Edit: case in point*

I just came back on to delete it because I thought 'sheesh' why post it.

Meh, I'm doing it anyway.
Oh my

I just realised my response to your post just then was "point and case", not "case in point"

I think that sums me up sometimes haha

Also wow I spelt intelligent as intellegent every single time in that earlier post. I thought that was a one off but I typed it nearly every second sentence :giggle:

I think we need to open a reeducation camp here on silvertails

It's really quite ridiculous that we find ourselves in this position, he should never have been extended imo

All the more reason we need someone who can fill multiple roles effectively. Garrick took the full back role well, but I think someone who has specialised in that role and is adaptable for other roles is necessary. That's why Manly need to extend Weekes contract. He and Koula are clever adaptable players, and ideal to cover a few positions.

I love Weekes.

I said it several yers ago and i stand by it, DCE is not a Play maker he's a Hooker playing out of position.
Half our problems on field would be solved with such a simple move. He would be one of the most dangerous 9s in the comp, it would simplify his game, he's fit and has good tackling technique when players a running at him front on. His acceleration off the mark, and kicking game would be lethal from the ruck. It would also take him away from the edge where he is a liability in feeding his outside men appropriately, doesn't dig in and comitt defenders and is certainly no game manager either. What skills he does have would work a treat at dummy half, with his weaknesses nullified, allowing a cool headed, traditional playmaker to take the reigns. I hope Seibold / Flanagan can convince him to make the switch for the sake of the team's best interests. But not holding my breath. I feel DCE ' s ego would most likely get in the way
