We don't need him. We need Harry Grant. If we signed Nathan Clearly for a million a year some people would complain that it skews our cap and he's injury prone
The current DCE and Tommy contract is fine. It’s the Jake contract that is killing usFor all the years following them from 1973 up until about 2016 I'd expect Manly to be challenging for a GF. Since then and the DCE /Trbojevic contracts era soaking up salary cap they've never looked competitive
You're......not his brother.........are you?????The current DCE and Tommy contract is fine. It’s the Jake contract that is killing us

He was justifiably signed for 900k at his peakR u saying Jake is not worth 900k? 😆
He was justifiably signed for 900k at his peak
He will turn 31 February next season
Do you think Jake is still at his peak and is still worth 900K ?
Correct. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love his passion for Manly but just not at that price. At $950k per year should get you a AFB or Payne Hass. To have Jake payed like these guys is a massive stuff up by the club. $700k would be more suitable and that $250k saving is the difference of us being able to signing a top shelf forward we are missing.R u saying Jake is not worth 900k? 😆
I’m a bit over the contracts these guys are on argument affecting our performance. Just about all the successful teams have 2 or 3 guys on massive money. We are no different. For all the years following them from 1973 up until about 2016 I'd expect Manly to be challenging for a GF. Since then and the DCE /Trbojevic contracts era soaking up salary cap they've never looked competitive
But if DCE retires wont we have to spend the same dollars to get a new elite half back? We cant wait 3 seasons to develop one..... I just don't understand all the talk about being hamstrung because of DCE and the 2 T's contracts. Every other club is in the same boat. Yet they all can buy whoever they want. It doesn't add up to me.There are a lot of arguments about whether the club has got value for money in relation to the long term deals that DCE and the Turbos signed.
Each of these players love our club and have been wonderful servants and two of the three are past their peak now and you feel if Tommy Turbo gets an injury free run that he will be in the elite group of players in the comp.
I understand why the club secured these players like they did to fend of predatory clubs with buckets of money through third party payments. It was the right thing to do at the time.
However when you look at where we are now, the club is hamstrung in what it can do to sign quality players in the areas that desperately need attention!
We have Tommy covered in relation to other options at fullback if he gets injured.
We really struggle to replace DCE when hes out of the team and I believe that Jake needs to be used in a different way now as he is far too slow for the 13 role and we need to use him for 60 minutes a game now.
I believe that once DCE decides to retire that Manly will finally be able to invest in a replacement for him and a quality 9 which we continue to lack and is holding us back from true success.
2025 will be potentially be a final season for DCE, I think the writing is on the wall rep footy wise as it is for Jake. It would be lovely to see the two of them drive Manly deep into the finals next year.
We do need a succession plan for both of them as they are vital positions!
Isiah Yeo is on 350k LESS than Jurbo though, that alone proves the point many on here are banging on aboutI’m a bit over the contracts these guys are on argument affecting our performance. Just about all the successful teams have 2 or 3 guys on massive money. We are no different.
Yes, Turbo gets injured a lot. By so too do other elite fullbacks Ponga, Walsh, Pappy, AJ Brimson. . .There are a lot of arguments about whether the club has got value for money in relation to the long term deals that DCE and the Turbos signed.

It has been reported (and regularly commented upon here) that DCE took a pay cut, when he signed his current two year deal, which started from this season.I think Jake is the type of person who would take a salary cut if the club needed him to, just as Turbo tried to do, however, was not allowed to by the NRL.
DCE on the other hand, I would doubt would accept a pay cut from his contract, as he is in the 'business of playing NRL', knows his career is coming to an end and no doubt wants to put away as much as he can to have a financially seure future for his family. And fair enough, as his next move will either be in the media, and he's not getting too many gigs at the moment, although that may be more of DCE wanting to spend time with his family, or coaching, and his starting price would be significantly less than what he is currently earning.
I get it that most of us probably look at these guys earning $1mill+ a year or thereabouts, and for quite a few on Silvertails that may equate to 10 years salary and for others 4 to 6 years salary, and you may think, 'Hey, they can afford to drop their salary so the club can sign another player." Nice thought, however, if your boss asked you to do the same thing to employ an additional staff member, how accommodating would you be to that suggestion? Yes, it's an 'apples an oranges' suggestion given the variance in wage, however, the principle is still the same.
I have no qualms with DCE, Turbo or Jake earning what they do, as long as they perform on the field, I am happy.
