I'm not sure that's right. Our GF centres have been Lyon, Matai, Bell, Hill, Innes, Branighan, Fulton, Gartner, Knight, O'Connor, Williams. Not a bad lot there, plenty of flash in the pan. Wright and Kelly don't belong in that group.

Everyone starts some where. Let's get behind em. Lets hope I am Wright. And they both surprise a few of you this year.

Good side , but still not convinced that cronk will be as good in that side . Jake friend aint no Cameron Smith and i think here's we're the problem may be . They will get going and win ugly in games but will still struggle in stages.

Hey Bozo - love your passion for the Seaeagles mate - even at times can see some decent points.....this stuff about supporting the Silvertails site is getting a bit tired.....as a Premium member who will join the tipping comp when I'm ready, lets not judge others based on this and appreciate it's great to support Manly just by participating on the site with our own opinion.
Tbh the fact

We all know what the powerhouse Latrell Mitchell is like but I have heard his partner and young Rookie Joseph Manu is a genuine speedster .
There is no substitute for speed in the centres where raw speed can win you games by saving a try or scoring a try leaving the opposition gasping for air .
Just found some highlights where Parramatta flyer Beven French is out in the clear and Joseph Manu accelerates from the opposite wing to save a certain try .

Its lucky Manu makes this tackle with speed on the chase, he misses more head on defence than Kelly, so the speed is everything can be a flawed summary.

Recent Grand Final and premiership centres include the likes of Cheyse Blair, Ricky Lutele, Kirisome Auva, Kane Linnett, Justin O’Neil, Curtis Scott, Tim Lafai.
Hardly the creme de la creme of centre excellence.
If anything the importance of centre is diminishing a little in the modern highly structured game.

I tend to think from his health scare also there taking it slowly. He got ability, he needs some kms under his belt. Unless there been a huge change in a off season he offers alot more than shaun lane.

An organization biggest asset is the people that run it and congratulations to the roosters for having smart operators .
Now do we have Eagles that run our club or Geese ?
I hear this new CEO of ours is a smart operator .

And what is Baz's plan if we get injuries to DCE, Api and TT. There is no where near enough spine coverage.

Yep. Manu's 1 on 1 defense is terrible. He is always getting bagged on the Roosters forum. But he is young so it will be interesting to see if it has improved this year. Much like our own B Kelly.

Our current centre pairing of the unproven Kelly and very average and slow Matt Wright is the weakest Manly centre pair that I can recall and they do make your list look like crème dela crème.

Yep. Manu's 1 on 1 defense is terrible. He is always getting bagged on the Roosters forum. But he is young so it will be interesting to see if it has improved this year. Much like our own B Kelly.

From the feedback on here both Kelly and Manu have defensive issues but there is one thing for certain and that is one of them has speed to burn and that is definitely Manu who has speed like our very own Dylan Walker .

Don’t need stats - the eyes work fine....
It’s like me asking when did you time his 100m sprint??
Don’t always rely on stats - they can be over rated.
Fact is - yes he is fast, yes he misses plenty of tackles.
No doubt will be rightfully targeted in 2018.

I understand where you are coming from .
The fact is players can learn tackling techniques and improve on their defence in their 20's but as far as blistering speed goes , if they don't have it by then they will never have it .
