Trial v Roosters

I understand where you are coming from .
The fact is players can learn tackling techniques and improve on their defence in their 20's but as far as blistering speed goes , if they don't have it by then they will never have it .
I get your point about Kelly also in relation to genuine speed in the open, but feel you are missing his sharp footwork and I think for a youngster, he offers plenty of potential.
In actual fact Bozo - I reckon if you give him a go, you will be on the Kelly train mid 2018 season

Bozo, I bring you exhibit A-
Rd 25 vs Raiders at Brookie , Manly Centres Williame & Brown!

I hope so as I like all our players to succeed . As I said before , a quality modern day centre has these attributes. Superior size , power and speed to be a superior centre . Kelly does not fit the mold.
That's my opinion feathered friend maxta .
I am a tough marker because being a Manly supporter I have been used to the best of players in Manlys glorious dominant years

@BOZO what centre playing now would you want in our jersey. Size, Power, Speed. I am happy to dream about how good we will go this year. But in all honesty. Is there a centre out there which would be good enough for you?

I may be wrong but I sense a perfectionist complex?

TKO at prop is interesting. Their pack doesn’t look that impressive to be honest. We should win the forward battle

If you have been following the Sea eagles long enough to remember our grand final winning centres of the past you would understand my benchmark in centre quality or any other position .
Which centres playing now would I want to partner Walker ?
Dugan , Bird, Gagai and Jennings come to mind . Can you imagine that combination feathered friend?
Now that is going back to Manlys glory days

Cheers bro. So all's our centre boys have to do is keep there opposition centre contained, Yeah? and others will get the win.

Let's do it together @BOZO. Let's make 2018, the year of the combined Eagles parts. It's about being a team. Together the sum of individual parts is bigger than any individual will ever seem.

Think back to that great Bozo of yours, and his 1996 coached team. Tessa, Innes. Look one had balls and heart like a wild boar. The other most ppl don't even know, but what he lacked in nrl nouse, He made up for in class and polish indeed. But neither will ever throw stones near an immortal.

Was that teams true genius, any individual? Or was it that Bozo coaching? All's I know it was a great TEAM.

That back line especially. I just remember it worked like a defensive machine. It was man on man defence out wide, and one on one, they just had a trust, an understanding of each other, the likes of which have never been seen.

Defensively that backline, it just didn't miss.

The 1996 team was a good team and Terry Hill was a star origin and Australian centre and Craig Innes was a gun NZ dual International .
Neither would throw stones at our Incomparable Immortal as no other player will ever do but compare them with Kelly and Matt wright and there is no comparison .

Jamie Lyon?

I'm not sure that's right. Our GF centres have been Lyon, Matai, Bell, Hill, Innes, Branighan, Fulton, Gartner, Knight, O'Connor, Williams. Not a bad lot there, plenty of flash in the pan. Wright and Kelly don't belong in that group.

Yeah, but think of it this way. As good as they were for Manly, there are other outside backs (not just centres) who we've had in premiership winning sides who were more solid first graders than outright stars like a Bozo or Snoz or Killer. Players like Max Brown, Rod Jackson, Simon Booth, David Ronson, Stuart Davis, Danny Moore.....not superstars, but they did what was expected of them.

Good side , but still not convinced that cronk will be as good in that side . Jake friend aint no Cameron Smith and i think here's we're the problem may be . They will get going and win ugly in games but will still struggle in stages.

That's what I have been thinking as well. Cronk has rarely played a first grade game, or representative game for that matter, without Smith running things and/or Slater at the back. And while Tedesco may be a budding star, Jake Friend is definitely no Scam Smith. Which is why I'm not so sure that the Chooks should be regarded as premiership favourites just because they signed those two. For all intents and purposes, they haven't significantly improved the side like the media and Chooks fans want everyone to believe. They have just replaced an aging Gordon with Tedesco (and gotten rid of their first choice goal kicker......remember how that worked when Maloney left them?), and have replaced their long term representative halfback who knew the players and team plays like the back of his hand with Cronk who is at the back end of his career.

Players like Max Brown, Rod Jackson, Simon Booth, David Ronson, Stuart Davis, Danny Moore where all players that were proven , consistent and reliable performers unlike Kelly and Matt Wright .

:thumbsup::thumbsup::eyes::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
He played like a young player that needed more time to adjust to the NRL level . I thought we would make a bigger impact with all his natural speed and skill but at the same time he was not given good ball and space to finish any try opportunities . Physically he looked strong enough , Defensively he was pushed off once but came back to complete the tackle and I also remember a one on one strip where he made a good run . You can see the highlights here .....

What about Derek Moritz, now there,s a memory lol

****ing hell, what a team on paper given the players they haven't even named. Add to that Crichton next year as well !! WTF? Cordner and Keary not named. Talk about cap management.
They do look good on paper , scanning over that starting 13 only Cronk and Tedesco really bust the bank .Napa and Ferguson wouldnt be on massive money 5 or 6 k .

Every fkn thread somehow either turns into a Kelly bash-a-thon, or a series of spam for the Tipping Comp, or both.

It is tiresome stuff Bozo.
In December I put a filter on terms such as “tipping comp, kelly, Greenberg, carney, Pearce, Hodkinson, salary cap” and I guess there have been no posts at all on this site for months.

It also helps that they have a favourable draw. According to NRL article ;

The draw

It couldn't have been any friendlier if Trent Robinson had drafted it himself. The Roosters face the lightest travel burden of all 16 clubs with four trips to the airport all season. They don't have a single five-day turnaround and of the nine teams they play twice, a whopping seven missed the finals in 2017.

I think we shouldn't read too much into it. Just the luck of the draw. cough...cough

Wright played at centre in the for Samoa in the World Cup and was the best player for Samoa.
We knew what we were getting with Wright when he was signed up, basically a solid back up player, nothing flashy, he hasn't disappointed, I just hope Kelly can get his game to the next level, as apart from one game against Penrith in the last round, his form has only been average.
