Average pack imho. and JWH looked like a player past his peak last year.

It’s a good point , certainly a star studded backline but it’s not exactly the worlds greatest forward pack so I’m amused at why everyone in the media has them as almost certain winners.

From what I’ve seen the Storm have lost Cronk but Croft is a very classy young player. They’ve lost a few forwards but have added Solomona and Hoffman returns, so to me they probably deserve favouritism.

Every year I think it'll be the one the storm fall, and they don't. This year I have them clear favourites - (not to try reverse psychology... but it'd be nice!) If they go through without too many injuries, I don't think too many will come close to them. They don't need to have the best on paper line up, and have proven that year in year out. Roosters might have stars coming out their wazoo but i think it will hurt more than help them. Similar deal with Sharks, though i think they actually have more of a chance of combinations gelling quickly more than Roosters.
Cowboys and Storm i think will have some epic battles this year if both stay full strength. As for us. I really can't get a clear fix. Many things have to fall into place, but i think I have more confidence than the past two seasons at this time of the year.

Yesterday on FB there was a video of Beaver interviewing Barrett, Cartright, Winterstein and Joe, a sponsor at Brookvale Mazda. Whilst Trent was talking about this Saturday's game, he mentioned Api is 'crook' at the moment and may not play. I'm guessing Fainu's on the bench to cover for him.
He also reiterated that he named who he considers are the best 17 at present for Saturday's game.
Joe said they've planned some 'exciting' things for our first game at Brookie.

The Sharks actually did it last week, Manly dovetailed in on it and Wayne Couzins (media manager) did a very good job commentating.

However , haven’t seen a thing about this weeks game.

Players like Max Brown, Rod Jackson, Simon Booth, David Ronson, Stuart Davis, Danny Moore where all players that were proven , consistent and reliable performers unlike Kelly and Matt Wright .

We should finance a silvertails streaming of all manly games, with say mick from qld doing the commentating. I'd pay for that.

Can you imagine that, I’ve met Mick a few times and what you get here is exactly him live and seated , a funny bastard!!

The nhl often have hometown commentators which is great.

EG: Most of the times the vancouver canucks have "John and shorty" ex players (well at least one of them is) commentating the canucks games.

So whilst there is a canucks slant on things, they are still professional but mainly talk about the canucks players.

It'd be good if foxtel and nine could bring that in with their 'red button' which they did once and we can choose our commentary.

A couple of Manly ex players or fans that can actually talk would be good and it would avoid the scam smith love in all the time.

I mean they couldn't go "full mickqld" but it'd still be better than the drivel today.

Regarding the first trial: I thought Wayne went quite well until he got a little bit carried away with the 'manly are so great' comments.

I think when a commentator has to say "Just let me speak!" as one did to cuzzo, then maybe you have to reel it in a bit otherwise you're just going to sound like Peter Griffin laughing and saying Manly every 10 seconds.
