Tim Cleary resigns as CEO effective immediately

Unfortunate, but that is business and when you put in a sporting team and fans and the passion involved you get the emotion we see here.I liked the guy and hoped he would keep Fulton in check, but with results at the moment looking promising then Fulton has the upper hand(and so Penn backs him).Politics and all the childish crap that goes with it(egos etc...)are in all business no matter what the amount of money involved.I work for a multi national and my sister has a job with the Salvo Army outside of her studies and the infighting and backstabbing and defending of the turf is exactly the same.If we keep winning then it will be yesterdays fish and chip wrapper but if we start to lose then people will bring it up again and again.I don't have the time or the spare tears to care for every person who gets shafted in life.Cleary will get up this morning and see that the sun has still risen and get on with life, like all survivors do....

Get a grip people..

Manly are a small family owned and operated business operating out of rented premises in a small Sydney suburb. The local McDonalds has more staff and a larger financial turnover.

With the owners running the show the CEO position was never ever a decision making role, poor Tim started to have delusions of importance. As nice a guy as Tim was, and regardless of how much of a positive PR influence he had ... no CEO could make an important decision until Penn told him what his decision should be. I believe Tim's main function was to spearhead the Brookie redevelopment, a role I think he would have been excellent at, but "running the Sea Eagles" was never going to happen.

No CEO worth two bob would take the job, and none is needed, all important decisions will be made by the Penn's anyway .. I think a good General Manager would be a better option.

All they need is an administrator , a yes man, that's not " the face of the team" nor have any interaction with fans ( after all we are only sausage roll eating dummies).

Just someone to keep the office rolling.

And not called CEO or General Manager.

That way their job might be safer for longer than 6 months.

On a serious note ... what decisions do you think a CEO at Manly would be free to make without prior approval or consultation with the Penn's?

Must be a big Mcdonalds....Manly has a heap of staff.

Our Values

  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Be a team player - lololololololololol
  • Act responsibly and with integrity
  • Respect people - lololololololololol
  • Be adaptable to change - lololololololololol
  • Be accountable for our actions

Sea eagles 29 staff .... Macca's across the road about 50-60 staff.

Sea Eagles turnover about 5-7 million not including the guaranteed NRL grants ..... Macca's across the road probably just a little less. For goodness sake there are local plumbers who turnover more.

But you get my point, talk of HR consultants and big end business CEO's is a joke. Any CEO with a modicum of talent and an average CV would laugh at taking the gig.

Neil Bare has vested intrest in ensuring CEO's walk. He facilitates Fulton. He holds the money and where it goes. He has a history with his first wife currently in goal.
I love the sea eagles. However it will be taken from us as there will be an investigation into manly and the findings will shock.
The team and fans deserve better.
So you are saying that the findings of the "investigation" will be such that the NRL will have no choice but to strip us of our licence - fascinating......

Fulton and Zorba run the place. With the pathetic Neil Bare doing their bidding. Everybody knows. The NRL. Other clubs. The media. All. We're an administrative joke.

The moment Tim Cleary showed any balls he was gone.

Speaking of "balls"...how about poor little Scotty. Appoints the right guy to sort out the crap and the politics, then when the pressure is put on...he goes to water.

Oh dear what a cesspool.

Well said....! Pretty spot on there JEF.....!

We've had as many CEOs in the last decade or so as Australia's has Prime Ministers. And that hasn't hurt the country at all...

Yep, 6 pages of blah blah blah comments to finally hear an "opinion" that is sensible. Spot on old mate, Tim obviously had illusions of grandeur, which were quickly put into perspective by the ones that matter the most.

The Broncos are like Woolworths. Not sure a local corner store set football club will compete. This is a backwards step.
