Salary Cap Witch Hunt. **Appeal unsuccessful**

Penn is saying Manly were cap compliant and just steered potential TPA to player managers, NRL is saying Manly is only cap compliant now that green has left and freed up 600k. But still have to deduct 600 K from the cap for the next 2 years. Don't get it.

Neither does Todd, but gee it sounded good didn’t it!

I’ve been hammering Rothfield and Moley on Twitter ( nicely I’m never a dickhead) , no replies from them but lots of activity on my Tweets.

Moley reckons he’s seen enough of the files to know we are cheats and shouldn’t be playing for points in 2018.

Very harsh words!!

If no one can understand it then some people will think it's too harsh, others not harsh enough...If we add it all together it will be fair...and easier than creating a standard for these sorts of things. Also by the time people do figure it out they will have lost interest anyway...hey look a cricket!

Just for the sake of salary cap conversation what would stop someone like Russell Crowe buying a few houses in the UK as an incentive for the Burgess boys. Would that be beyond the NRLs jurisdiction ?

If this were true and Manly had also examined the files, multiple times by now why would they continue to protest the claims. I just hope that regardless of the outcome (at least part of) the report is made public. Right now the aim seems to be to throw as much mud at Manly while you can while disregarding the bigger issue of the whole TPA system.

I'm still waiting for Toddy to announce when Strike Force Nurialda gets to flex their superior investigative powers on the other 15 clubs so they can unearth some inconsistencies that too can be passed onto the NRL to alert them to what their pathetic salary cap auditors have been unable to discover on their own.

We just happened to be the lucky ones who had to undergo a police investigation. Love to see the Broncos or Rorters face some search warrants and proper interviews with legal weight behind them.

Cheers for making me famous SPARTAN, never thought I'd make the big leagues... Aka Silvertails.

You missed my reply:
Thanks Paul. But why are they willing to "drop it" for the Panthers but not for Manly...? A promise of a TPA was made. That took Maloney off the market.

Kents reply:
Because the system is a joke. The NRL failed miserably again here. They should have looked more deeply. Instead they let it go, further undermining the integrity of the game.

Even Kent can see how unfairly we are being treated. That's a good thing. He will ask questions and that's what we want from the media....
It's definitely promising that some people outside of Manly are willing to take a different side on this. It may not be exactly Manly's side but it's not the NRL's either. I won't mind Manly copping the penalties imposed if at the very least it brings better consistency and transparency into the corrupt organisation that is the NRL.

Greenberg said in the press conference that Manly are "Well and Truly under the cap for 2018" hence the reason we did not get points deducted. They also said we have not exceeded the cap. The issue is with technical cap compliance not with paying sneaky cash payments over the cap.

The amount of made up crap from the likes of hacks like James Hooper and Buzz Flopfield beggars belief! They make assumptions and spew it out like its gospel and then just move on if it is found to be BS or get on the high horse if they fluke it and they are right. Don't believe a god damn word they say.

Hahaha you legend Paul / Batty. I was meant to post your reply as well but lost it when I copied and pasted. I'm glad you included it. Well done for asking these questions and putting it out there for everyone else to see how hypocritical these bastards are. The more coverage it gets the better. Keep it up buddy!

The Mole is an absolute immature wanker. Look what the dickhead posts on twitter :

Can't see this happening anytime soon. It's taken them 9 months to get to this stage with Manly and it's still not over. If the same happens with the other clubs then it will be the year 2029 before it's completed!! Ha, ha.

How nice shi7berg waited until the beggining of the season to announce it all

Does this explain our crap performance on saturday because the players knew it was all coming out and why DCE was non existent ??? Is he peeved off at the club ?

That’s it. Say you don’t agree but close it out. You’re can also say something like dragging this out would cost us more reputationally yada yada. Plus I think you can kick Bozo under the bus on this one and let him, Joe Kelly and Bare wear the blame.
Yep couldn't agree more

Based on what I know outside of the cap stuff which is all public knowledge, Joe Kelly isn't the most astute businessman (CoCo Joy anyone?) and did a terrible-poor job as CEO in his time here, and Bozo among other things mercilessly sacked Toovey, ran another CEO out of town and gave numerous jobs to his own family - so if you're asking me if those two may have been involved in something untoward, then I'd be leaning towards yes - most likely lead by Bozo who as we all know was the pseudo leader of this place.

And my broader point still stands. Look at Cronulla with the peptides. Did Flanagan ever admit guilt? No but they took the penalty (which was admittedly pathetic) and moved on and even won the comp the following year. 330K a year off the cap isn't that much, especially in light of the dead weight they've carried in years past. It's ultimately a question of fight this and have it lingering for possibly years along with the drag on our reputation, etc. or draw a line in the sand and move on? Other league fans will assume your guilty even if we win every legal challenge so there is nothing to be gained in public opinion. Right or wrong in this situation is of no consequence - It's purely a matter of whether you want this to end or continue.

Yep, the more I think about it the more it makes sense to just take the hit. Rival fans will always believe we are guilty anyway. The press have made it clear already who they are siding with and it is not Manly. If we end this here it will be a minor tarnish on nothing of note and we can start with a clean slate and move on. Had this been about our winning years I would feel different, however it is covering the worst 5 years in our modern history so who gives a toss. If there is one thing for sure it is that it will be forgotten quicker than an international phone number after a couple of weeks, and the league media will go chasing another ambulance looking for a story.

The world is trial by media these days in they have us guilty already. Move on!
