[Resurrected] Nicho Hynes

But the money isn’t important to me, it was more about getting the opportunity to start every week and make a name for myself in the NRL.

“My manager called me to tell me another club offered X amount and however many years and I said to him ‘if the Sharks can match that or come close then I’m there’,”
Hynes has all the qualities that will bring him success at NRL level

Attitude , Commitment , dedication and resilience

and above all he has the Skill . He is smart player

He had a tough upbringing and deserves all the success that he has worked so hard for

Hynes talks about what happened to him at Manly in this interview. At around 2 minutes on.

Thanks Brissie. A mistake letting him go most certainly but I also hope we are no longer as brutal when we let these young kids go. It's important for club culture that the powers that be lead by example and have the hard conversations. That's the mark of integrity.
And they really should be aware when they sign kids as young as 14 and sometimes transplant them away from their homes that it comes with massive ethical responsibilities.

I understand what you are saying

I am saying all clubs have let some good ones go under the "circumstances "

Being a young player coming up the grades it would have been ideal to have given him the curtesy of an explanation for letting him go . Unfortunately Every one slips up now and again

But as far as our club culture goes , All players that have played for Manly over the decades and current one rate our club culture as one of the very best .

The way we have looked after Fainu is exemplary as well as talented players like Schuster that are happy to stay with us and make a career with us .

Another poor retention decision. They're mounting up through all those years of paying a fortune to the long neck goose while letting go of some seriously good players due to "DCE cap" issues. Api, AFB, Ramien, Kelly, Hiku, Hynes, Gutherson.

DCE 's large salary is thanks the lying Foran when he took Manly for a ride.

DCE was signed for something like 450k less and they pulled the offer as Foran asked for more $$. Never had any intention of staying at Manly.

Selective argument there IMO, Api we released as we saw Fainu as the man.

Gutho we let go to fit Walker in.

Hynes would have been on base at the time he was with us so not a salary cap thing.

Hiku simply not a preferred option.

Another half making our very overpaid captain look positively ordinary

He is doing it all, our guy ain’t getting anything right at present.

How can such a seasoned player still be so ill composed and prone to taking the wrong option

Very impressed with the Sharkies, Saints very poor as per usual. Have them fighting it out with the Tigers for the wooden trophy this year. Suli hasn't changed anything to his game since he left, although does look fitter. Did a few hit ups without skittling the defence, got sidestepped easily by Hynes after rushing up and grabbing fresh air, costing his side about 30m. Also, would someone please land a sneaky one on Jack Bird, when ever he gets tackled he jumps up at starts grabbing jerseys and gesturing with menacing looks..lol.

That’s a painful list to read through. All gun players who would win a comp in the right system. Api and Hynes both winning premiership rings after finding other clubs that worked for them

In the short term perhaps but come back to me in 10 years to see how they compare.
Its easy to say xxxxx player is so much better than what we have but longevity is a key consideration.
Ben Hunt was the next big thing before he wasn't. Ash Taylor was the next big thing until he wasn't. Anthony milford was the next big thing until he wasn't.
Like brooks was the next big thing... hahaha haha
Mitch moses is always just about yo be the next big thing.
Nicho might just be the next big thing but then again in 3 years he might not.
No use comparing apples and oranges in a bag until they have beennin there the same amount of time. Or something like that.
DCE has premiership. A Clive Churchill. Qld captain and Australia rep. He can't be that bad can he?

Exactly. Remember one hit wonders like Time Smith at Parra. Mortimer for them (Sterling said he almost hadn't seen more potential). Agree, longativity is huge.

DCE.is getting a tough wrap, and I guess rightly so, but when our forwards dominate, and he has more time, and runs direct lines, lookout.

He still has it in him.

I'm not in any way a blind DCE fanboy. He's had some pretty poor seasons and can be prone to overplaying his game which generally ends up badly but all of those players I mentioned above were 900k - 1million dollar players and have given no where near the service DCE has given us.
Even players like Cleary can and may have some poor seasons in the future. A lot is to do with the team around them.

I liken it to F1 and a drivers car. Lewis Hamilton is a Gun but even he struggled for a few years when he didn't have a car able to complete. Seb Vettel - 4 time world champion and now a midfield finisher at best.
