Hynes was a constant standout throughout the Manly juniors, his performances in the team were often overlooked due to Turbo being in the same team.

You can bet if he was an out and out superstar that slipped through Manly's hands due to the club's own stupidity, he wouldn't have ended up on the scrap heap in QLD Cup, without an NRL affiliated contract. He wouldn't have been a bit part player for the Storm for so long. Instead, he would have been snapped up by the Roosters haha.

Clearly his fortunes turned and he has publicly stated that himself.

Des infamously traded Cook for that useless Michael Lichaa at the dogs.

Des also got rid of Michael Ennis who went on to a win a premiership at Cronulla.

For every successes like Hynes there are plenty more that don't work out - we never hear their names again. If Hynes didn't go to the Storm he probably becomes another one of those guys.

Letting Gutho go was a much worse decision.
