I'd be disappointed if we lost him. I'd be interested in how Carty (or whoever is coach) plans on using Marty next season. Our one and only game plan from Tuberculosis this year was second phase ball from Kapow and AFB which hopefully gave DCE a shot against an unset defensive line. When they were off the field we had very little. We need to replace Lane as a middle forward too, so can ill afford to lose Kapow on top of that. Would love a good starting prop so we could put one of Marty or Addin on the bench to spread their impact on the game.

Gee they will look like tossers if the run away. Whoever walks ill lose respect for them.

Can someone please wake me up when we actually have a ‘team’. I miss the days of choc, gift and killer. Even back to the Monaghan days, at least we had a team to rally around. Sadly, it doesn’t feel the same right at the minute. We’ve always had turmoil (farkin fix it) but always had a team that I could get behind. Apathy is creeping in, and that isn’t the manly I love.

Yep, they mentioned last night Drinkwater is originally from Terrigal - so I’m guessing he’d be one they picked up when they had that Central Coast feeder team playing in NSW Cup a few years back (which, from memory, was a joint venture with the Sharks?). Apparently has been playing at Brisbane Easts more recently.

It’s why I’ve been posting that we’ll need two forwards and two wingers ( one of which may be Anderson).

We need to replace Shady ( Penny if you prefer) and I’d say Kapow as well.

That’s not going to be easy I must say.

Apparently there’s a divide with the players, the Captain & his deciples & the rest.
It looks as though the rest want out. I think Barrett ****ed up by making DCE Captain, he has polarised the playing group since the Stewart, Watmough, Mattai days.
Just because your the Highest paid, doesn’t make you Captain material. He’s not the go to guy.

The Marty Taupau story needs some explaining. First, it’s worth pointing out he is not on big money at Manly next year. He is on about $750,000, less than Aaron Woods and other big-name props. So he is affordable for another club.

Manly shopped him around because he is out of favour with the inner sanctum. He is said to be interested in other clubs because Manly tried to get rid of him. He is perfectly entitled to look elsewhere because of the treatment he received.

Despite Taupau not being well liked by all the playing group, Manly would be mad to let a player like him go. The Roosters say there has been no contact with Taupau and Roosters chairman Nick Politis says he has never talked to the Manly enforcer.

Why.. ? It say more about club management than the individual.

I'm all for players honouring their contract, but we are rudderless at the moment and if they have erred then players have the right to go

At 750K per year, if true, I say he's being treated pretty well.
I think it would say more about the management if they told him to shut up and play football or sorf.
I love Marty and I think he's been performing pretty well and that our results are not as bad as they would be without him but no player can run the show when you finish 2nd last.
Even DCE.
It's why we need a coach of strong character in the joint.

Yeah but apparently Nick reckons he can bench more than Marty and he’s willing to put $100k on it.

Abit different, Lane got a better offer ,Taupau and maybe Walker may be off because they can't handle the heat .It is a rabble of a club at the moment, but why hasn't say a Thompson or kelly , who wants another contract as does Suli want out . Cant be that bad .

Interesting that there’s all this talk that Taupau is in talks with other clubs given that he is not allowed to until November next year.I know there are ways around it but it just highlights how pathetic Greenberg has run the game

Surely if that was all true it would be on the front page. I mean it’s pretty much unheard of in the Greenberg era. Could you imagine the headline?

If players want to move to another club while still under contact then there should be a transfer fee paid to the existing club which is then included in the new clubs salary cap

For someone like Marty the transfer fee should be say $500k
