[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

The thing I am laughing at is the muppet Speels fans on social media who are still claiming its unfair because they are under this years cap. "The players have done nothing wrong so why punish them?" is the common cry.

This despite the fact that the NRL has already come out and said that they are $570,000 over just in 2016.

We're all here commenting on parra issues & forgot to mention one other important matter. We're back in the 8 wooohooooo.

Not yet we aint:

…The NRL stresses that these are preliminary findings and the club and officials will be given a reasonable time to respond to the proposed penalties.

The NRL will only make a final determination on whether the preliminary findings are justified and the proposed penalties once it has considered the responses of the club and the officials. ….

One thing that was raised last night on 360 by Mick Ennis was that player payments for 2016 started in November 2015. So if they move, say, Junior Paulo on and his contract is for, say $250,000 then that would only reduce the $570,000 by $125,000. ok I am not a rocket surgeon but that means unless they can unload Watnow and his bucket of money contract, they will have to move many players.
Is a rocket surgeon the offspring of a brain surgeon and rocket scientist?

And the response is, "stuff you, we are taking you to the supreme court".

They should double the demerit on that standpoint alone.

What happened??? Channel 9 last night showed an amended ladder which had us at 8th.

These are just breach notices of preliminary findings. Parra have 5 days to show cause of why they are incorrect.

Ladder will change by next week

Let's hope the Court action, taken by Parra yesterday, drags on >:)

I wonder how much pressure from the NRL and Nein that Dr Bloomfield is going to be put under to declare that Choc's knee problems are new and only began after he started playing for the Speels?

Even though I think the punishment handed down yesterday was ok (though very very lenient), its really been a farce since the beginning.
Not sure about this but Bloomfield might only have to certify he is not fit and has to be medically retired?

The issue of when the injury that finished him arose may be a separate one, of relevance to the insurance issue.

No, it's the NRL Salary Cap person who needs to sign off on medical retirements so that will be exempt from a Club's Cap.
The Insurance just needs to do their due diligence and potentialy pay out up to 1 million max.

The rule is that if a new injury occurs to a contracted player, then it's an unforseen event and his Contract monies will not be part of the Cap.

However, if a Club signs a player who has a previous injury, then should they want to retire them (akin to sacking them) then they still have to carry their annual contract amount under their Cap.

The ex-Manly Doctor would easily know which injury is debilitating and if it is an injury that occured since 2014

You'd be surprised if Watnow would just retire , you can bet he will want an ironclad 150% guarantee that he gets the rest of his salary for 2016 AND his 1.6 Million for two more years ( lol@parra).

This ain't over by a long shot!!

I'm still baffled by the "poor Parramatta" bull**** being peddled in the media (watching the Sterlo show now is making me want to vomit). Sure, Parramatta worked hard in the off season. So did every other team. The only difference is every other team didn't cheat. And yes, they've had a good start to the season. With an illegally assembled team. A team they shouldn't have. With players other teams would probably have on their rosters if the Eels hadn't been rorting the cap for three years.
They don't deserve "hope". They don't deserve to play for points. They deserve the strongest punishment possible.

Hope isn't a word 95% of non Eels fans understand in this situation.

However the boys at Chan Nein are sitting around in a back room tonking themselves in glee at the fact that hope exists , and what fabulous ratings that hope is going to produce.

I can see it now...

Camera panning across the field to focus on Parramatta players, all with a 1000 yard stare, whilst Rabs babbles on about "Phoenix from the ashes" and "the depths of despair" or perhaps "that time when you sharted in the public pool"......while Sterlo vigorously polishes his dome and Freddie struggles to string a sentence together...

The cliche-athon is going to be flat out farken brutal if they get anywhere NEAR the semis this year..

Have you seen their draw? They absolutely have a chance, a good chance. Couple that with forans Ben barba like recovery, the groundswell of support and galvanising of the club and fans and a subtext the NRL will be not only loving, but encouraging. The pieces are in play for this to happen, and it will make a mockery of the competition and the NRL.

The other thing I don't get is - yes, parra lose all their points for having an illegally assembled team, they get shunted to the bottom of the table under all the teams they have already played with illegal cap. NRL don't re-award points to the teams that lost to them while illegal, so parra have less of a deficit to claw back, hence still getting an advantage from their cheating. No points or an ability to finish no higher than ninth is the only fair course of action.

What is a club who ties with them for 8th gonna say if para get in ahead of them because they were able to keep the points differential they accrued while cheating. It's a minefield.
