[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

No offence @Ryan but if you would prefer Hasson over Myles......sheesh. You need help, fast lol.

Goat Photo's can't tackle and his hit ups have less oomph than a clapped out Honda Z taking on a brand new Dodge Viper over the old 1/4 mile.

Myles may be a plodder but he's consistently been one of our best forwards for metres gained despite spending about 30 minutes each game on the bench, and his defence, while not spectacular, has been solid at worst.

If they didn't cheat they would not have been able to afford Foran, Scott and Jennings. It's prevented other clubs of signing one of them. So why should they be playing for any points at all this year.

Not only that but they've been doing it for years yet they get a slap on the wrist compared to what the mexicans copped.

Exactly.
Foran ($800k?)
Jennings ($600k?)
Scott ($600k?)
Gordon ($250k?)
Gutho ($200k?)
Hasson ($1.50?)

Two and a half mill signed and no one questions it?? Gimme a break.

Truth is without the worms in the Eels boardroom undermining their own side the NRL wouldn't have a look. Case in point, Broncos. No way that team is assembled for any less than $10m
Agree although I think you are being a little conservative with your costings perhaps with the exception of Hasson, lol.

That's exactly it @swoop . Its a slap on the wrist penalty and to make matters worse, to add insult to injury, the NRL have gone and given the club an out, a chance to actually make something of this season.

Dogs and Storm fans especially (as well as the fans of the 13 other clubs) have every right to feel downright cheated by this farcical decision handed down by Nein....er....I mean the NRL.

Parramatta are prepared to give up on this season if Anthony Watmough isn't cleared from the salary cap, with fears the Eels could set themselves back another three years if they shed their best talent to play for points from next week.

The Eels' first priority remains becoming compliant to play for points this season, but are sweating on the NRL to label Watmough's knee problems as a career-ending injury, which would see him exempt from the salary cap and wipe close to $450,000 from the $570,000 they need to shed by next Friday's game against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

However, if the request is knocked back, the Eels are weighing up whether to bite the bullet and sacrifice their 2016 campaign in order to keep the bulk of their squad together in the hope of competing for a title next season.

The fact that Choc had well documented knee injuries at Manly before he even contemplated joining the Speels should be taking into consideration by not only the insurers, but also by the NRL.

Dr Bloomfield was our club doctor from 2000 until 2012. Choc made his debut for the Northern Eagles in 2002 so Bloomfield would know (or have notes on) every single injury Choc picked up for the best part of a decade, including knee injuries which he apparently started suffering from in 2010.

The fact that the Speels are reportedly prepared to give up on the season if Choc's knee injury is determined to be something he brought with him from his days at Manly shows that they aren't fully confident that it will be found in doesn't-matta's favour. And if they aren't confident then it also shows that they knew full well about his knee injuries before they signed him.

Essentially they are throwing their eggs in the Watmough injury basket and hoping like hell that it pays off.

Don't forget the Brazilian connection. The "fix" is in.

Does anybody know what happened to the 4 point suspended sentence Dave Smith handed down for their 2014 breaches?

My understanding of a suspended sentence is that it is imposed if you are found guilty of a similar offence. Surely that's the case here?

Or has the suspended sentence been swept under the same rug as Ben Barba's indiscretions?

The second option is their only honorable solution.

Accept guilt, take your medicine, and prepare for 2017.

Regain some trust and respect.
The second option should not be an option. This would basically be them saying stuff you to the NRL, we will assemble this great team of players knowing that we will be over the cap so that next year we can keep the bulk of the team and go all out to win the competition.

In March the NRL confirmed that Parramatta avoided the four-point penalty after making the core governance changes recommended by the independent review.

What? It's the lack of governance that got the 5 Admin guys deregistered.😎

Apparently the Police and soon the ATO will be investigating Parra for

a) Inflated Suplier Invoices so that the inflated amount could be paid by Supplier to a Player as unregistered TPA

b) Cash payments to Players that may or may not be declared by the Player

The Parramatta Papers leaves the Panama Papers in it's murky wake 😛

That article about parra giving up on this season is just another covert attempt at swaying the decision the nrl have to make regarding choc's croc knee. It is just another display of their underhanded scumbag mentality.
The light penalties handed down were to allow them to continue to compete this season, because they don't want to drop any other of their big name signings this new 'giving up' stance is a threat, plain & simple.

If it was another team making such threats the nrl would be upping the penalties, however I am sure they are preparing the mats to cushion themselves when the rollover yet again

From the SMH:
...the Eels have avoided a four-point penalty for their salary cap dramas.

The Eels were facing the possibility of starting the season on minus-four due to salary cap indiscretions last season.

However, NRL head of integrity Nick Weeks said on Wednesday the Eels had satisfactorily completed the core governance changes recommended by an independent review.

"Based on the work undertaken by the club, the Parramatta Eels will not be docked any competition points prior to the start of the premiership," Weeks said in a statement.

Here is an aspect of this no one seems to be talking about, and that is that they were willing to keep doing this. They are 570k over the cap, and had offered 600k to Norman and were chasing James Tamou. That just shows that these people were more than willing to keep abusing the cap if it got them results, they are honestly sickening.

I hate to say it but if the guilty club was Manly, Greenturd wouldn't have thrown just a few pages of the book at us. We'd cop the who'd damn State Library.

Do you think if it was Manly, Cronulla, Canberra, Wests, Penrith or even Newcastle that had been cheating the cap for 5 of the last 6 years, that the NRL would have come down so lightly? All would have been hit with Storm like punishment which would have hurt us more as it would have probably seen Manly stripped of the 2011 premiership.

And I still believe that commercial pressure from Channel Nein (as the league's benefactor) and the NRL crapping itself over the fight for fan support with the Wanderers and GWS played a big hand in the lightness of the penalty.
