[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

I am not being flippant, but given that depression is a medically diagnosable condition, can anybody suffering same be medically retired.

For that matter, can anybody with a mental issue (say dog rooting) be medically retired.

Opens a huge can of worms, and big golden handshakes to aging players. The potential for abuse in medical retirements is scary.

Sign an aging star for 4 years on a mill a year, plays one year then struggles, no problem, get depressed, and get 3 years and 3 mill sitting on the beach recovering.

The AFL took a tough stand on Kurt Tippett when it was discovered that a 3rd party agreement was illegal. His manager handled all the negotiations. Everyone involved got penalised. Tippett had to serve a 12 match ban. Ignorance did not save him. I wonder if this same was to apply to NRL players how many would get more involved in the actual arrangements.

Agree. Posted this on Facebook last night:

I'm well aware that most footballers are not rocket surgeons, but I'm just going to put this out there:

If your employer (or someone on their behalf) is giving you cash payments on top of your salary, you know there is shonkiness afoot.

If a $300 000 boat turns up in your driveway after you've agreed to vary the terms of your original contract, you know there is shonkiness afoot.

If your employer pays your wife several hundred thousand dollars for carpentry work (and your wife is not a carpenter and has not done that work), you know there is shonkiness afoot.

If a club sponsor pays you and a couple of teammates tens of thousands of dollars for a couple of hours' work as a security guard, there is shonkiness afoot.

If you sign two copies of a contract, and there are different terms and amounts on both, there is shonkiness afoot.

I have to sit through a 'death by PowerPoint' presentation every year, so that I don't have a leg to stand on should I decide to take payments under the table or surprise gifts from stakeholders...why are NRL players apparently not getting similar training? Wouldn't be hard to slot it in amongst the 'don't do drugs' and 'don't be a rapist' training, surely?

Stop taking the fans for fools.

parramatta may not be playing for points while over the cap, but what of all the teams that don't get points playing against them while they're over the cap?

teams that have not played parra prior to their needing to jettison players are also unfairly advantaged here. would they have won 6 without cheating? hardly likely.

the only equitable solution for all teams then is for parra to play all year for no points. otherwise it's like making significant rule changes halfway through the season

And if you are a players agent and you turn up and the club tells you they have TPA's already arranged, you know there is skonkiness afoot.

(rocket surgeon?)

I can't remember who started it, but someone mashed up brain surgeon/rocket scientist years ago and it's kinda stuck.

My partner is also fond of answering an obvious question with "does the Pope sh*t in the woods?!"

I wonder how much pressure from the NRL and Nein that Dr Bloomfield is going to be put under to declare that Choc's knee problems are new and only began after he started playing for the Speels?

Even though I think the punishment handed down yesterday was ok (though very very lenient), its really been a farce since the beginning.

I think it should be from now which means that only half should count to help the salary cap as Watmough has already got half his pay. You then add another player to replace him and they will still have to lose one of their stars to be under the cap. Each time a player is released they need to replace him in their top 25. And Watmough should be replaced now when it's only half the salary cap otherwise they are still cheating in my opinion.

A sure fire way of slowing this rorting down would be to attack the player managers. De-register them if they become involved in shonky deals. That way they would ensure that the payments are above board. They wont want to lose their income. Even sign a guarantee the payments are legit with a clause demanding substantial recompense.

One thing that was raised last night on 360 by Mick Ennis was that player payments for 2016 started in November 2015. So if they move, say, Junior Paulo on and his contract is for, say $250,000 then that would only reduce the $570,000 by $125,000. ok I am not a rocket surgeon but that means unless they can unload Watnow and his bucket of money contract, they will have to move many players.

If he has been faithfully attempting to rehab and learn to walk/run/speak all over again in accordance with the terms of his contract to play and train, then clearly he has been fulfilling his end of the contract until such time as he says, I give up.

Any backdating of his 'retirement' would be a legal fiction. Nevertheless with the current NRL attitude I think this quite likely to occur!

If this happens then the punishment is a total absolute farce of gigantic proportions.

I however must say its highly unlikely they'll win 12/15 , however, desire as we know plays a massive part in professional sport.

To lose one broken down hack ( who was that before he arrived there) and start playing for points again is beyond belief.

To be honest I can't believe that they would allow this to happen. In this mornings Herald they said that Watmough had already received half his wages so only half would count. This meant that at least 2 players on high money would have to leave as they also had to add 2 extra players to their 25 rostered players. Also they won't get any points if anyone takes this to court. Let's hope this keeps going until it would be impossible for them to get enough points to get into the final.

I do believe, apart from the glorious news that doesntmatta are finished for 2016, this will also be the end of the retarded squeal trolls from venturing into our territory. 2 mighty wins for us !!!!
Nope they'll return, about the time we are due to play them at Pirtek.
