Weidler has confirmed Jake is done for the year

He deserves a rest. So too Turbo. What's the point of him playing the remaining dead matches?
Why not give Koala a run at fullback to see how he goes. Pick Willet on one wing.
Give TT2 a chance at 5/8. Walsh to half. Hoppa Jnr to centre. Clayton the other centre.
Then in the forwards give Jazz, Sippers and Lodge early marks and our thanks for trying, and try out some of our young reserve graders.
It would give us a glimpse into our future. We have nothing to lose. May as well finish 15th as 10th.
I can tell you that I'm not interested in watching the current 17 go through the motions again this season but I would be interested should there be some new faces.

I'll start by saying Jake has been a great servant to the club and an inspirational player for many years. But I don't think we can continue to carry Jurbo at lock. In fact I'd like to see him retire before he does any more damage to himself, but if he plays on then where does he play ?
We need someone at #13 with youth and speed/power as well as ability to link with the outside. Caleb Navale should get first shot at the #13. If you put Jake up front is he going to get us the post contact meters and quick play the balls required , I doubt it. He's not a bench impact player anymore. Yes his presence to the team is an inspiration but he has to offer more than that. I just can't see where he fits into the structure required to be top 8 competitive anymore.

Unfortunately I don't think Jurbo has broken a tackle in the past three years. I wonder if he is instructed to simply attract defenders to him, and get a quick play-the-ball?

All good points.
His stats have all dropped year on year for five years now, his best hope is not to drop further. Can't see him improving.

Even the games he's not played the 80 are generally the same output.

For everybody's sake i hope not, He's made his money being a tackling machine and that was fine but he's not what he used to be and we need more then that. Sorry Jake your to slow for the game now a days. Retire and help Manly in a different way.

I think that is exactly how he's been instructed to play unfortunately.

Kinda like sending Jake on a kamikaze play. Jake takes the ball up into the teeth of the defence takes all the incoming flak that he can handle then springs up with players falling of him thereby creating opportunities out wide, wow, talk about reinventing a player. Could work tho.

Well , going to have to incorporate Jake somehow next season as i am sure every intention by him to persevere
Probably early on , status quo with him starting at 13 but Navale at this stage , every chance of coming on at an appropriate time then and Jake reverting to prop
Brown will not doubt be a bit fresher early next season but very much doubt that he can offer to the same extent at 13 his previous vigorous play
Could well change as the season progresses with Jake more in the frame as a starting prop but then also again have Tent, T K O , Bully and Hetherington in a logical prop rotation arrangement
As for a future ongoing contract for Jake , might be better of just aiming for one season and still has to virtually get through next season relatively intact playing health wise to accommodate that even if a short term likely deal is forthcoming

We need a younger, more agile lock who takes the line on, eases the pressure on our halves, right now Jake is showing wear and tear. I am worried about the concussions hes suffered, he gives away repeat sets as the game is a lot faster now.

I think cameo role off the bench as a rotating prop forward and only when its needed play lock.
