Do you reckon the dogs supporters would be understanding if Des had just taken over and was a couple of years into a rebuild...? I do.

6yrs is a fair crack.

I think what would be worrying the Dogs supporters would be that the more effect Des has had on the squad/retention/tactics over the years, the worse their performance has gotten.

Although I agree with you in that clubs cannot always stay at the top, Des has had now 6yrs to develop the team he wanted (with one of the most expensive footy budgets in the league) and improved on the position of the club from when he took over - it appears to be that the opposite has been happening.

Maybe he's just missed the premiership window?... One things for certain, the dogs aren't going forwards - even with Woods/Foran - I can't see them changing enough to challenge for a premiership anytime soon. Thats where I see the supporter frustration.
I just think Des has gone stale at the Dogs and they need to try something else to freshen the place up.

After a bit of success he thought he had revolutionised the game with passing forwards. Then they tightened up the obstruction rule and it turns out that was what was doing it for them. By that stage all the eggs were in the one basket. I'm not sure if he's realised that slow predictable ball play from sideline to sideline through the hands of flat footed forwards doesn't work yet.

Lol at Bulldogs. Des did the same with us, backended contracts, got us a premiership, then flipped us the bird. Live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Bulldogs captain Graham, the heart and soul of Belmore for the past six seasons, is on the open market because the club chose to back-end his contract. Graham is on around $1 million for next season.

The Morris brothers aren’t on that much but their deals are also back-ended and upwards of $700,000 per season. Mbye is on close to $800,000 while Eastwood is the doozy of the lot.

The one-time Kiwi international is also on around the $800,000 mark next season.

We’re tipping playing NSW Cup for that sort of money won’t worry Eastwood.

Rival NRL clubs are well aware of the situation and are sitting back letting the Bulldogs sweat.

They figure they will only get increasingly desperate as they scramble to squeeze Kieran Foran and Aaron Woods in for next year.

And let’s not forget they’ve already let Josh Reynolds, Sam Kasiano and Michael Lichaa move on next season.

The Dogs are going to be paying hefty sums to have clubs take players off their hands.
I wouldn't pay anymore than $300,000 for Graham. He is one-dimensional and far past his best. Eastwood: $200,000 and the Morris twins $350,000 each.

Let's bid for Josh Jackson.
He was none too pleased Des stopped him playing for country and hasn't seemed happy all year.

Can any one on here recall any other coach who was hated by their club as much as Des ?????

The latest from the Kennel ....
I'm so sick of the garbage Hasler is spewing, no wonder our players are the way they are...

... YOU HAVE A SHT HAIRCUT.

The Anti Des stories by the Dogs continue and seem to have no end which will ultimately bring Hasler's coaching gig to an end .....

CANTERBURY legend Graeme Hughes says the culture he helped create at the Bulldogs has vanished, as he calls for coach Des Hasler to part ways alongside a number of club board members.

When that story first ran...the photo caption claimed it was an Eels fan gesturing towards Des. Because.... newspapers

DES Hasler’s Bulldogs are just three defeats away from becoming the racking up the second-highest number of losses in the club’s proud 82-year history.....

I really had to laugh when this was shown live on television. I think it was Hadley who was saying that he was getting a raz from doesn't-matta supporters.....but this bloke is clearly wearing a Canterbury-Bankstown shirt.

Then again, Hadley has recently begun taking name pronunciation tips from Ray "get everyone's name wrong" Warren and even after you could see the #9 on the back of the jumper he was trying to say that it was Hopoate who made a 50 metre break on Thursday night when it was clearly Mbye.

Thank you bubbles.

How Bulldogs players will cost Des Hasler his job

Canterbury’s high-priced players will dig their heels in and hold out for their money in 2018 – and it will cost Des Hasler his job.

That’s the view of one of Hasler’s closest allies Peter Peters, who can see no way out for the two-time premiership winner

“He’s one of my best mates on the planet but I can’t see how he’s going to survive,” the Sporting News Australia league expert told Sky Sports Radio
  • “I fear for my old mate. They’re (the team) not giving him anything and he’s not getting much out of the players.

“It’s not good, it’s a tough time and they look like they’re counting the days until the end.”

But Zorba predicts even tougher times ahead for the Dogs, who must shed a host of players to get under the salary cap for next year.

Back-ended deals, which Hasler was a fan of at Manly, means a number of players are set for big paydays in 2018 and may not want to leave.

And the NRL won’t register the contracts of big-name purchases Kieran Foran and Aaron Woods until Canterbury are cap compliant.

“I hear the players are going to sit on their digs and demand their money and won’t go, and you can’t blame them,” Zorba said.

“Some of the players are on back-ended deals and this is exactly what Manly’s coming out of now.”

The Dogs are headed into wooden spoon territory after losing 10 of their past 12 games.
