ASADA Going Shark Fishing

I know the source isn't comforting, but Danny Wiener has just said that he spoke to Manly bosses and they said the rumour is false. He has also said that the manly player who was rumoured to have dobbed in the club is about to make a statement, also denying the claim.

Is there a link for that or was it on radio? Tv?

It all probably comes down to the dodgy shed at Belmore where peptides were administered in the last 12 months when they were banned. Guessing that there is no incriminating phone tap information and at best, the authorities only have video footage of players entering the shed at Belmore.

Guessing that entering the shed is not incriminating on its own, because anything could have happened in there, guessing that 47 players from various clubs visited the shed.

Guessing that fans from each club only need to worry about their players that were spotted visiting the shed at Belmore. Lucky, for us, our players that live on the north shore, rarely venture to the other side of the bridge.

Well if you both use blackberry phones you cannot be tapped. So if you are paranoid and don't want the Feds listening in just use these phones.

I had a twitter conversation with him yesterday, I asked him why he would tweet what he did, his reply was "Do you want Moley to lie and pretend all is good in rugby league?

This investigation is all seeming a bit disjointed and secretive with speculation rife and panic setting in about stripping premierships, premierships we worked extremely hard to win and deserved to win.

From the so called "facts" that I have heard, we are somehow involved - Perry said we wer low / medium risk - so there is something they have uncovered - like others here I hope it is minimal, possibly one or two players? Hope not but low / medium risk indicates something ..

Mind you the coach / team seem extremely calm & focused and Hasler spoke out saying Manly followed protocol / no dramas etc. Even Ballin spoke to Foxsports a few days back & seemed confident Manly were all ok.

So quite curious really.

Essendon & AFL look to be working to getting the no fault or negligence clause from ASADA. In other words the players stay cleanskins. Cronulla are getting the substantial assistance offer from ASADA of admit guilt and cop 6 months.

We also have ASADA saying the law stops them and anyone they interview from talking. But I notice there are ex ASADA people are all over the media talking and insuniating all they want which cranks up further the media hysterics and social media rumours and I guess panic some to become whistleblowers.

When all is said and done, this saga will be remembered for trying to turn mate against mate, fan against fan and club against club.

Disgracefully handled.

Why has the coaching staff been stood down &/or sacked. The board has said that the coaching staff weren't sacked for doping reasons & Flanagan has NFI why he was stood down. If I was a sharkie supporter I'd be asking WTF is going on then.

Lawyers all round. Why is the NRL giving CRonulla financial assistance? I'd be fining them for bring the game into disrepute. We get fined 100 grand when a couple of players are supposedly pissed at a launch. Here's a club rife with banned substances, and they get financial assistance. That doesn't make much sense.

Facebook spray taken down on doc's advice
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/facebook-spray-taken-down-on-docs-advice-20130309-2fsi7.html

Big piece by Roy Masters in Sun Herald. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/sharks-allege-coverup-20130309-2fsj7.html

When the Sharks contacted potential spin doctors and other NRL/AFL clubs, they received an indication of the widespread nature of the scandal. One PR consultant declined, saying he was already employed by Newcastle. The Knights have two former Sharks from the 2011 season, Jeremy Smith and Kade Snowden, on their roster.

When the Sharks called Essendon to see if they could share information on strategies, they received no assistance. All 25 players at the Sharks in 2011 are being investigated and a further nine players are under scrutiny. One NRL club has quizzed a former Sharks player who reports seeing the use of cream but was never a user himself. People are asking about Manly, where Dank worked for five years, much longer than his stay at Cronulla.

He's been quiet for some time but Stephen Dank, the sports scientist at the centre of the drugs-in-sport investigation, is getting on the front foot. He says it's time for the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority to put up or shut up. And what's more, his legal team is offering to support the embattled Sharks players. ''We've offered our services to the Cronulla players,'' said Dank's lawyer Greg Stanton. Stanton says Dank wants the case resolved in a hurry. In a letter to ASADA, Stanton jumped into the drugs body. ''We cannot sensibly or significantly seek Mr Dank's consent to this process, when as a glaring omission from the matters addressed in your correspondence, no specific or general allegation appear to be available against him. We are left to conjecture as to the real purpose of this interview and the extent to which he is currently exposed, on the material available to ASADA, specifically as to his involvement in any breach that is said to have occurred. It is neither our client's intentions nor desire to frustrate or impede any valid and properly constituted inquiry.'' Stanton added ''the sole purpose in responding to the ASADA invitation was to seek an immediate and decisive resolution. We have called from the outset for the evidence, if any, of any violation for which it is said Dank is liable. Rather than alleging any wrongdoing, ASADA is encouraging and promoting a newly devised scheme of 'do it yourself' styled prosecution. So poorly and clumsily has this process been mishandled that any prosecution that may unfold from this point would be in serious peril of failing, poisoned as a monumental abuse of process.''
