Alan Thompson is very dynamic in those 75-77 clips, playing at centre in lots of games. My strong memories of him playing are from the 80s when he was more a wily 5/8.

I recall his first games in first grade and some of them on the wing. Still remember and cheering him in the reserve grade GF in 1973.

Second rower Allan was a solid if uninspired coach who wasn't able to get enough out of his star-studded team.

Reading the comments in Enablers v Match Winners and all of the love for Ian Martin, got me searching some games back then. Here are some great footage from 1977.

This enabler concep and Ian Martin. We generally won the premiership with him in the team. 4 of them. The year he went to sawtell we weren't premiers. He came back and then we were premiers.

Didn't Alan win the reserve grade premiership the year before in 88 and runners up in 87?

I reckon the ' original ' Terry Hill would've played a lot more 1st grade had he gone to Norths or somewhere.
