1977 Manly

I didn't know Mick Waller had passed away either. Very sad that some of the not well known guys are not noted when they pass.
It is also interesting seeing the old jerseys. The maroon seemed far darker. Almost claret coloured or the colour of Laurie Daley's Just for Men hair.

City II v Country II 1973
Max Krilich selected for City II from reserve grade.
Looks like Ian Martin in 19

That is a gem.
I have the programme from that game and yes Ian Martin is 19.
Terry Randall, Herman Hamilton and Johnny Mayes were listed as well but It doesn't appear that they played.

poor bears. I saw big Herman Hamilton going round for them, and John Gray put on a try for Bruce Goldie Walker. We bought them for the following year (or maybe Walker first then Gray). Walker coached our Sea Eagles Shield competition-winning St Augustines side in 78. A bitter sweet year for him though with the premiership win then his wife was killed in a car accident.
Goldie's wife Margaret was killed in that accident in 1980.

Many thanks for all of your video flashbacks here - eagle 66 . really great stuff . I was not able to see any of these games live but through a combination of personal memory and recollections of Rugby League week editions , and the occasional T V - live matches and replays , i am still able to relate to most of these highlights . Again much appreciated and really good work

I also rated Alan Thompson as not only an excellent club and rep player but equally as a great club man. A player who with the combination of serious dedication and good natural ability , of course made it all the way to the top . A true manly champion and local product and did "t Thomo also have Cliffy"s tendency to have a few fags before games and half time ?

Eagles Nest, the white scoreboard was built prior to the start of the 1974 season.

The White Score Board - are we talking about the Northern End of Brookie? The footage of the games in 1975 season shows no scoreboard at that end? I’ll see if I can get a screen shoot (but the Manly vs Wests game Round 1 >> in March, 1975 shows John Dorahy kicking goal at the end of highlights at the Northern End with no scoreboard?) .

The real old wooden scoreboard was in the Southern End? Some of the B&W games (from 1973 & 1974 you can see that scoreboard – though it was not that flash at all !!)

S-E corner for the old one. It stayed there for some years after the new one was built.

Trust me, the 'new' one was there. You can't see it from that angle.
