Did anyone notice Wombat's first try where he ran straight over Lord Ted like he was a powder puff, and then got up and gave him a serious face massage to add insult to injury. Gold!!!!

It was a hoppa style head pat!

Pity we weren't premiers that year.

Gartner was top try scorer of the season.

I was at that game, aged 10 and they were golden years to be a Manly fan, we were the reining premiers and we smacked the premiers of that year that day and the year after we had in my opinion our greatest ever premiership win. Great memories, matches played during the day so all fans could go. I will never forget that era.

I still remember watching Gibbs as fullback in the Under 23's at Brooky. He was electric in all grades.

Slowish start to the season and then they dropped some games they could/should have won. Like plenty of other seasons.

As kid growing up in the 70s these blokes were my heroes- thx for bringing back plenty of great memories'

As a teenager in the 70's, I would leave home (Belmore), train, ferry and bus to Brooky, watch 3 grades, return trip, hot chips at Manly Wharf, they were the best at the time and get home in time to watch Rex's wrap up in the news and then the Channel 7 match. Sometimes able to watch SportsAction/SportsWorld in the morning and watch all of the highlights of last weeks games.
