Zorba's column today

To quote the famous Queen Alsa, Let it go!

resding the article it is fairly unbecoming of an adult but the article has a particularly telegraph feel to it. The social column posing as a newspaper

An excerpt from Zorba's column in today's Daily:

"Is there anything Jake Trbojevic can't do on the football field? I asked Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett if he had unearthed any surprise goalkicking prospects for the 2018 season. 'Probably Jake - he fancies himself and doesn't miss many. Maybe we will go back to the old days when forwards were kickers,' he said."

Jake, our next goalkicker....now I've heard everything! I nearly choked on my cereal this morning and its definitely not the 1st April :giggle: (Surprised this hasn't already been mentioned here...)

I hope he kicks them "toe poke" style.

Hey..I'm by myself on the forums again.

Time to be an uber 1337 haxor

I think we should start a movement so that the NRL takes a leaf out of the NFL's book and specialist kickers can come on for penalty goals and try conversions.

Then we could re-sign Matthew Ridge 😛

Do we then send out a defence team when we are defending, and attacking team when we have the ball?

@Bearfax the funny thing is that in the mid-90s when there was unlimited interchange.....Bozo just about perfected doing that and it was one of the reasons we had such a good defensive side. Quite often he would put Cliffy on when we were attacking, and change him with someone like Neil Tierney or David Gillespie in defence.

IIRC, during the 1996 GF, the Nein crew were debating the unlimited interchange and Phil Gould (doing guest commentary....he was still the Chooks coach then) said that it was the biggest god-send that coaches had ever been given. The coaches LOVED unlimited interchange and the good ones like Bozo and Gus used it to their teams advantage.

Many greatest goal kickers who were forwards?

John Grey would be the best. Mal Cochrane for sure. Peter Peters himself was ok apparently. I saw on Fox last week Ian Gately kicking goals! Max Krilich kicked as well. Does Luke Williamson count as a forward? John Barber? Noel Cleal? Shane Rodney.

Any others?

Williamson was probably more a utility. Started his career as a centre with the Adelaide Rams in 1997 and later moved to 5/8 before finding a home in the back row (if you lot are disappointed at Brian Kelly not being a speedster as first touted....Williamson as a centre makes Kelly look like Usain Bolt). Luke was a 70% career kicker (70.03% to be precise), kicking 243/347.

He kicked 45/69 in 29 games for Adelaide, 113/163 in 41 games for Canberra, 45/58 in 16 games for the Northern Eagles and 40/57 in 132 games for Manly.
