Worst side Ever. Congratulations

Whilst I agree Tom’s return changed many things I don’t think it changed everything.

Many of the players that ran out in rounds 1-4 , and the very many before that , were simply not performing and Des refused to change anything !!

Then we started getting injuries and his hand WAS forced.

And those players have really stepped up ( no need to mention them we all know who ).

Add to that the remarkable return of Turbo and you have a firing Manly.

So in my opinion it’s not all down to one person , rather a collective effort and the icing on the cake is that one person.

Perhaps the players were still coming to terms with the loss of Keith Titmuss in the first few rounds?
Very possible. There were many many reasons we started the year so flat.

Thing is those that were blowing up delux and calling for half the team to be dropped, cut or sacked and moved on just wouldnt accept there was a good chance Des would turn it around.

The Illuminati can go on all they like about the final 12 games last year and the first 4 this season but in the end the coach and players turned it around without your help or support. I applaud all the negative Nancy's now for getting back on the bus and actually support a winning team.

I think many people gloss over the complete **** show 2020 was. Covid, suspended comp, rule changes mid season, no fans at games, players bubbles the list goes on.

We didnt handle the situation well and the run of 12 was a outcome of this.

Towards the end of last year people going on about our up and in defence and how bad it was. So Des changes it for this year and it coincided with playing the top 3 teams in the comp.

We were never a spoon side. We were working our way out of a rough time.

Perspective time ...

We will start the congratulations and celebrations and all the praises and the signing extensions

When we get hit by the Origin series and our big guns are out we will find out the true character of the rest of our boys .

I notice you've ripped in quite a few times to all us Manly supporters who were 'Negative Nancys'. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it seems the classy thing is to not continually carry on with the whole "I told you so" nonsense.

At the end of the day, everyone on here are clearly passionate and one-eyed supporters and members - some more emotionally invested than others. When your team is running dead last (or thereabouts) for several months, and quite completely and unexpectedly (considering our coach's past achievements), it is only natural that we would vent our frustrations, and hopelessly search for solutions as quick as possible. Being a proud and successful club, it's not easy watching players go out looking unfit, unenthused, and getting totally out-muscled in just about every aspect of the game. Getting belted on a weekly basis, sometimes oppositions would score on every set they actually had possession.

Any reasonable person could not have possibly known that this same group would turn it around so dramatically. Since 2015, they had a couple of good months in both the 2017, and 2019 seasons...apart from that, bottom of the barrel stuff. On top of that, the frustration of seeing the same list of players picked, ahead of young talent, was almost untenable for all members and supporters. And yet you sit on your high horse, with the luxury of watching young talent now in the side, a few good wins, and are taking joy in the self-perceived notion that somehow you are more loyal than those who ever doubted.

What appeared clearly evident last year - was the fact we had spent the entire off season training in a very particular way.

Our pre-season was geared around a big forward, power game and the sudden rule change did not suit this approach. Then Covid kicked in which resulted in the NSW Cup being sh1t canned, and all the guys coming back from injury had nowhere to regain match fitness.

Many posters discredited the above circumstances when they were presented. Apparently, it was just a convenient excuse. Remarkably - Des and the boys came within a whisker of playing for a spot in the 2019 GF. Another disregarded fact in all of this.

Nah - they've won six out of their last seven games. The only loss being a narrow defeat to the Panthers. I'm going to enjoy the remarkable turnaround, praising their dedication and hard work. congratulations Des and boys!

As for enjoying the signings and re-signings - Saab, Aloiai, Lawton,Tuipulotu, Foz, Schuster, Keppie, Haumole, Paseka, Sipley. Yep, I'll proclaim it - GREAT WORK!

Both Junior sides killing it.

Parker, Croker, Garrick throwing eggs.

DCE playing like a boss.

Des stating - "We'll turn this around, you'll see." Then winning six out of the next seven rounds.

Go Manly!

I think it's called payback - during the bad patch those who remained positive were ridiculed and mocked by some. Many times over in fact. @Eagle of London is just returning serve. Nothing personal - it's a footy forum.

I will happily concede that Turbo is a very big part of why we win games, and also why we lose games when he is absent ... but I can't accept his mere absence makes good footballers turn into park players, drop the ball, miss tackles, forget the defensive structures and become easy beats. ... not just one of them .. all of them .. for 15 games straight.
It’s bizarre, isn’t it but I am starting to believe it is all Tom. Did you see him spray Paseka after a Parra break last weekend? “Fecking Work Harder”! He is the standard setter in the team, the one they all listen to and the one who they don’t want to let down.

I was so impressed by his spray that I thought, make him captain and make him captain now.

Yes feathered friend it is called payback and the payback is all about living up to our Legendary clubs proud reputation and high standards !

Nothing proud and positive about finishing 13th and missing the finals last season
Nothing proud and positive about not being able to win a game at our sacred home ground but only coping humiliating club record thrashing there
Nothing proud and positive with the most successive capitulations in a row that began mid last year till the 4 rounds this year

Manly is not mediocre and no Manly Proud and passionate person should apologize for not accepting any thing else but Magnificence from our team .
