Can we please buy a backrower Seibs

I’m not opposed to Waddell being the first choice backup… All things considered, he’s not a terrible backup. He has plenty of NRL experience, and he is likely on minimum wage.

I’m more concerned by the black hole immediately behind him. Hugo Hart is not ready for first grade, and any other options would need to be makeshift second rowers.

That’s what scares me.

I disagree with you on this one Phobia. Waddell is a small middle and there should be at least two backrow options ahead of him imo. Hart might be one which means we need to find one more proper backrow forward.

Yep agree, I'll cop Waddell as edge 4 though revkon Hart will soon overtake.

We could def do with a edge to either displace Burbo or at the very least compete with him

Which one is bigger?

Yes, I know - apparently Kobe has no height at all

😀

At a time the games getting quicker. You kind of have to scratch your head at why Manly have a squad almost completely lacking a traditional back rower.

Manly does love to stockpile locks however. All whilst Jake has a stranglehold on that position and doing everything in slow motion at 13.

Yes a hole running edge please.

The obvious lack of attention Seibs gave to these glaringly obvious flaws this season is my biggest knock on his coaching. I found it bewildering that a professional NRL coach would go into a season so light on in the backrow. If he does it again next season i will be convinced our coach is an imbecile of the highest order. Surely, he recruits a backrower before next year.

The chooks are apparently looking at not renewing Angus Crichton's contract.
I wouldn’t mind last year’s Crichton, but he’s 29 now, and will be 31 when he is off-contract again.

I think we should be targeting long term prospects for 2027 and beyond. Also, didn’t he flat out reject us last year?

Broncos set to offer Haas a $3.5m 3 year deal. Again the FOX article mentions Manly as still interested!!!! Perhaps the lack of signing news is that he’s in discussions with us??? I have no idea but WOW imagine Paseka & Haas as our starting front rowers!!!

That would be great, but it won’t happen and furthermore would it balance our side re the cap? I don’t think so.

How about Paseka and Quac? With Moale and Bully in the rotation, now that is a middle that could hold its own, then what we do need is 2 mobile hard working edges.

Few things to consider, Quac is a quality edge, but I think he’d make a better middle, getting 10 minutes either side of halftime, would help his game.

His a big man who can hit and make meters, however it’s his size and speed that may become his Achilles heel on the edge moving forward, he has struggled with 80 at times, his line speed and lateral movements won’t get any better, in fact if he continues to add weight to his frame it could become an issue sooner than latter.

Quality props are probably harder to find than edges, and if where being honest we need speed on our edges, mobile with big batteries and a big dog in the middle, Quac’s that player for me.

I think we could find a couple of edges to fill the void, Ben would make a good bench member, perhaps even a solid 3rd middle, but we have issues their already, Jake, Navale, Kobe, so that’s not going to happen, probably just like moving Quac up front.

Anyway Tent, Quac, Moale and Bull make for a good rotation, TKO solid back up for a year possibly 2 and would compete for a starting spot on his current form. No Brown, No Lodge.

I’ll probably get shot down in any case, but how about finding 2 quality edges to support that middle and see if we can come up with a team sheet that looks like it can more than hold its own, perhaps 1 edge and a nine would be better, actually 2 edges and a 9 would be great

Try this pack, find 2 edges to complete it.

8 Tent
9 Simpkin - he needs back up from a 14 or we need to find a better 9
10 Quac
11 ?
12 ? You can play Ben and find one mobile edge able to cover our backline
13 Kobe - Jake - Navale 13 is a question mark that may be awkward for 26.

14 ? A quality 14 like Wishart would be ideal, can play a multitude of positions.
15 Ben if we play Ben in the starting side, one of our 13’s could come onto the bench, helping there a little, maybe, being a positional thing
16 Moale
17 Bully

18 Navale, who probably shouldn’t miss out, unless he can be transitioned to play SR, it’s going to a hard year with Jake in the squad.

Anyway add to middle, won’t cost anything like Hass would and would add more if we find the right edges IMO, food for thought.
