Trent Barrett wouldn't have much say (if any voice) in how much any of his players get paid.

As for the rest when it comes to the team he has.....well, he's the head coach isn't he. He's the one in charge.

Not that he would be training them to drop the ball, miss tackles, give away silly penalties etc. That is the players not executing. No doubt watching all that would make him as frustrated as it does any of us, probably more so.

Again another 'fan' who is blind. Manly ran several hundred metres further than Easts. We won the penalty count 12 to 7. We made more line breaks. We missed fewer tackles.

Since we are reducing everything to simplicity and having great fun bagging the guy who started this post how’s this for simplicity.

Barrett was the only coach who failed at Penrith in their golden era in the lower grades.
Barrett has a win loss ratio after three years that is quite frankly embarrassing.

And if anyone can discern an actual game plan this season other than second phase offloads and hope , I would love to hear what is?

If you want to play that second phase game employ guys who can catch the ball. Warriors have used that game plan for years and guess what. It failed. This year they play with structure and discipline before using their attacking weapons.A great way to see teams who lack a plan are those that give up big leads and find it hard to close out. Individual brilliance gets the big lead but the lack of a plan makes it hard to defend the lead if possession turns. Ring a bell ?

If this bloke, after being 2 from 9, can’t see that his plan,getting Marty to throw it over his head on tackle four, is an abject failure then he has his eyes painted on. We need to use our massive talented assets ( AFB and Tapau ) to eat the metres without the Hail Mary bull**** plays, keep it simple ,maintain pressure with ball control and hit hard in defence. That is how you restore confidence. Play with the ball in hand and hit hard. Throw in the one kicker rubbish and it’s a circus at the moment .

If he can’t see that then he doesn’t deserve the prize role as coach of the Manly Sea Eagles.

It’s a simple game. Problem is Barrett is a simple man.

Our stats were that good last week we could have won two games of footy.

Probably the best comment in this thread to date, and the REAL reason we aren’t do very well.

I’ll admit Barrett is no genius but to label him as THE REASON we are where we are is bordering on laughable.

Our roster is poor by comparison to nearly every other side.

I think this is more due to our office / recruitment being an absolute mess from about 2014 on and the club desperate to get/keep some decent players paying too much and then being stuck with the cap into buying average players like Brown, Winterstein, Perrett, Jono Wright who lets face it wouldn’t make FG in probably 14 of the 16 sides.

We were, and still are , a very unappealing club to come to.

Oh sure beautiful place to live ( if you can afford it) but other than that very very little to offer other than a “ start”.

This is the core of our real problem, one Barrett has inherited NOT created!!

At the start of the season most of us were damn excited about our roster, especially with Lewis and Frank at Blacktown.
Injuries, coaching pig-headedness, poor player commitment, and sht team harmony/culture/cohesion are our biggest enemies.

It is up to the coach to fix it.
If he can't fix it, then he needs to be shown the door.
