Tom Trbojevic destined to be one of the greats

I've put this up before. Based on what we've been told from the club, what Turbo himself has said and subsequently done - it's a Grade 2 tear. With immediate surgery, physio, rehab etc - it's a best case return within 4 weeks.

MG doesn't have the mental acuity to understand the following, neither do the mental hobbits he hangs out with.

Be informed, and be positive.

in true des style, tommy will be ready to go in 4
starting from ..........

i will say though, des seems a bit more at peace this year, and even being more informative while he says nothing.

Then his selection policy is just footy really.
I dont gamble or do any footy coach stuff so it doesnt irk me as much weekly .

to keep stuff like tommy quiet only a few can know, so most sponsors wouldnt be getting too much of the good oil info so i see that as a potential negative,

but it keeps things interesting on here as we try to all predict the big switcheroo on a weekly basis

Well next round is round 6 which is when we've been told Schu would be ready, so I guess we'll soon know if we've been led down the garden path.

I can't lie, we are very inaccurate or we just hide the truths of our injury reports. Because no one really comes back on time. It was a recurring theme last year and this year Schuster was said round 4. So that's why I was very mad about Turbo's injury. It just never is only "4 weeks" with our club.

But the thing is though, he felt the injury around the 10th-minute mark and still played on for 70 minutes and had the game he had. And then felt like he was ok and was ready to play for Thursday until the doc was like, we should have scans just in case. It seems minor, but with MCLs it can get tacky. They just gotta regularly update our members and fans with it.

Did anyone listen to MG’s segment on Triple M?

One of the hosts mentioned that they have put a line through Manly as they believe Turbo is out for a significantly longer amount of time than we have said. They have cited that Manly have downplayed the severity of his knee and the fact that he needed surgery as the reason why.

They backed this up through comparing it with other MCL injuries this year to players;

  • To’o, no surgery 6 - 8 weeks
  • Carrigan, no surgery 4-6 weeks
  • Fitzgibbon, surgery 8 - 12 weeks
will be lucky to be back in 2months easy

The Turbo injury segment is interesting. Hopefully, our form without Turbo in the next few weeks will surprise many of the 'experts'.

I am not impressed by MG's statement (after just 4 rounds) that only five teams can possibly win the comp, esp. as one of his five is the Sharks.
What do you expect from Geyer Lolol. Said Manly would get the wooden spoon last year so doesn’t surprise me. Not a word about beating the darling Knights without Trbo but yeah only 5 can win it lololol. When Manly starts beating everyone he’ll deny he said it lol.

Unlike previous times Turbo has been out, I am actually looking forward to what we can do without him for a few weeks.
A few wins and the character building will have us in good shape for when he returns.
I think alot of my optimism is the chance to see the young Koula,Tippytoes, even Weekes getting a crack they may not have otherwise been given yet.
Anywhere between 4 to 6 weeks, I think we can handle.
4 weeks maybe a little soon but we will find out soon enough

Spot on. Great opportunity for the team to develop. I almost feel as though Tom's presence hinders growth for our players in exchange for short-term success. 2019 was a classic example of serious development while Tom was out. Forwards will have to work harder, playmakers will have to be more creative, and outside backs will be given more opportunity to prove themselves. Hopefully Turbo will come back to add x-factor at the pointy end of the season, but the rest of the team has to have put in the hard yards first if Manly are to really take advantage
Love this post

Considering he required surgery and from memory Des indicated it was completely torn, surely that is a grade 3 based on your link.
Grade 3's are also linked often with ACL injuries. Not sure if there is any medical way of identifying a partial ACL tear.
Sounds like at least double 4 weeks.

  • Grade 3: A grade 3 MCL tear is a severe tear in which your MCL is completely torn — both the superficial and deep parts. Your knee will likely be very unstable and loose, and you’ll probably experience intense pain and tenderness. It’s common for someone to have other knee injuries, especially damage to their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), if they have a grade 3 MCL tear.

If we wasn't such a great player "WHEN" on the field, I wonder what people's thought's would be about his constant and habitual injuries?

This will be the 4th year straight of missing large chunks of the season. It's an awful lot of coin for someone who plays 7-15 odd games a year (80k - 100k per game).

You really should stop your negatively and show some empathy to Turbo.

Would you prefer Manly dumped him and sold him off to another club?

Turbo played out the whole game and ran 289 metres, scored a try etc, which he could scarcely have accomplished if the knee was very unstable and loose or he was in intense pain.
So doesn't sound at all like a grade 3 to me.
As for Geyer, lolololol, yes I'm sure he's almost a specialist surgeon, not.

I think 4 weeks is very optimistic. I think they will be extremely cautious when it comes to Turbo's recovery so if he needs another 1-2 weeks just to err on safety they won't play him. If Garrick can perform like he did against the Knights I'm.not overly concerned.
