Kieran Foran has signed a one-year deal with the New Zealand Warriors, however the Kiwi international is still no guarantee of being granted permission to lace on the boots next season.

How about this para in that article:

While there is no suggestion Foran has been involved in any wrongdoing, his former club Manly is currently being investigated over potential match-fixing allegations during Foran's time at the northern beaches.

So Foran didn't do anything wrong but the club did?

Agree. If the Warriors aren't paying him $1mil or thereabouts then the NRL are a joke. Clearly the Eels won't be picking up the tab for any of his contract because they quit their interest for a small payout. Therefore the Warriors have to pay full freight at market rate. I can't see how they will afford him.
Watch for a fire sale in NZ.This is what happens at clubs, chase or sign the player you want and worry about the finances later.Warriors will be off loading a couple in the following months

he certainly has learnt how to manipulate the system,id would only pay him when he performed, and I would make sure the fines for f*ckups off the field covered his wages

Do the Warriors have their version of the Thoroughbreds??

Easy, $85K from Cap, 1.1 Million in TPA's.

**** I'm sick of the TPA system it's spiralled out of control

i have no problems with the system but the thoroughbreds are part of the club and get advantages on the back of what they do so therefore any TPA associated to them should not be cap exempt.

Do you think average 2 head bob bongos supporter gets access to change rooms, free food and drink etc at every game?

Or get taken away on trips staying at the team hotel and enjoying unrivalled access?

The core idea of the TPA's probably isn't bad, but this is just sneaky, band together a bunch of rich league fans, call them a name ( not sponsors who can't directly fund players), treat them the same way as sponsors but their millions can be used to directly fund and prop up the player stocks.

Now tell me how that's fair to most of the other clubs!!

I realise that most of my maroon and white brothers/sisters on here will batter me for this, but I would have loved to see Kieran Foran back with us. I am being selfish, and even looking back, but I greatly miss what we were, and always saw him as a future captain. I would love to see the Manly back in our Sea Eagles.

Bung shoulders, bung hamstrings... The way he plays isn't for longevity and he'll miss many games. Nice sentiment but too much baggage/stigma also. Gotta move forward.

Surely the only fair way to operate is a points system. That way, if you're fortunate enough to be at the Broncs, you can earn $10 mil a year and good luck to you. But there wouldn't be 10 players of equal value being propped up.

Interesting tidbit from Fox Sports last night. Apparently Tooves was in contention for the warriors coaching job. I just wonder if foran only signed there after Kearney was appointed? Surely the two of them would struggle to work together now.
