I met him, and had a high opinion of him as a young star coming through. But he lost me with this quote: "I don’t think a bloke should be judged on what he has done in the past, just because he has owned a brothel. I don’t think that has anything to do with it. The guy is a family man. He has two young kids. He is a good man and a good father."

Hey, just heard that Roosters may offer Foran a lifeline, they are currently negotiating with Mitchell Piece to offer a lifetime contract and now they want a "long term quality five-eight" but he won't sign unless there is a better than average five eight. The contract supposably is a performance contract with no payments for walkabouts or personal issues. This totally goes against his wife's request that he give up football & gambling & something else I wont mention or she will walk. BTW that part came from his brother who's also got the same ultimatum from his?

The signing of Keary and development of Watson may render that rumour useless

Maybe, but this rumour came high up in the management team in Roosters about 30 mins ago and was conveyed supposably today. I have zero reason to distrust the source. Personally I thought NZ was a moral decision for him, close to family if his marriage broke up as it made sense, as if I had a family break up you would want family to back him up. At the end of the day he is a great footballer with immense talent but made mistakes and spiralled out of control. If he can overcome his issues and manage the problem, I wish him every happiness and success and most certainly wish him well with repairing his marriage. I've met him and his brother numerous times and they have been polite, friendly and accommodating and it is a tragedy what happened.

Hi wheel, Warriors have given him a release to pursue other offers and Manly would be favourite based on his friendship with Darryl Williams, and Darryl linking NZ opportunities to Manly over a period of time. Agreed contract should be based on performance and not on a signing fee and under deliver. Also everyone associated (implied or connected) with Hayson should have an offer signed and submitted to NRL subject to clearance after investigation of the betting scandal. No room left in our team for inappropriate behaviour. BTW not implying he does have a connection because I don't know.

How do the warriors afford Foran? They should have to pay the value that the whinging worms payed him, anything under makes a total mockery of the salary cap. Surely this contract has to be subject to NRL approval? For all of the words written about him in this blog and on this forum, it might be time to call it a day as he is an ex player now. I just hope he sorts out his life for the sake of his children. The last 2 years or so have been really painful watching him leave as he did and imploding. I really rated him, I thought he would be our captain for years to come. I have to say that in my 40 years of supporting this great club that never has any player disappointed me as much as Foran has. Life goes on and maybe its time for all of us to do so in relation to him.

Agree. If the Warriors aren't paying him $1mil or thereabouts then the NRL are a joke. Clearly the Eels won't be picking up the tab for any of his contract because they quit their interest for a small payout. Therefore the Warriors have to pay full freight at market rate. I can't see how they will afford him.
