ABOUT $75,000 was lost in a two-hour gambling spree from a TAB account belonging to troubled Parramatta Eels star Kieran Foran.

Foran secretly checked out of rehab in Queensland on Thursday night.

He flew to Sydney, where about $75,000 was gambled away on his TAB account during the two-hour splurge.

+ It's ridiculous that the nrl who claim player welfare as a #1 priority...as does parra...that he is playing on the weekend then flying back to rehab. total b/s.

Add this to the above report and footy should be way down the list. hello...family...you there?

Anyway, parra's problem now. Enjoy.
Wow, poor Wolfie was suspended for 8 weeks for putting a total of $60 on himself and Manly 😎

$75k loss in 2 hours - Deadbeat sure knows how to pick a winner :giggle:

Think of your children FFS Foran 😡

Kieran Foran’s TAB account shows big losses over two-hour period

REBECCA WILSONThe Daily Telegraph

ABOUT $75,000 was lost in a two-hour gambling spree from a TAB account belonging to troubled Parramatta Eels star Kieran Foran.

Foran secretly checked out of rehab in Queensland on Thursday night.

He flew to Sydney, where about $75,000 was gambled away on his TAB account during the two-hour splurge

In an online frenzy the account was making bets of up to $15,000 on the greyhounds in Dapto, Albion Park and Sandown.

It then switched to the South African gallops in an attempt to win back some of the thousands lost.

In the end, about $75,000 was lost after about $15,000 was clawed back in the second hour.
The TAB’s terms and conditions state the “account holder” is “the only permitted person” to use the account.

TAB workers were alerted at the start of the two-hour spree when red alarm lights signalled a regular big-betting punter was online and making hefty outlays.

Foran had his account frozen several weeks ago when the TAB ordered it to be shut down temporarily after a round of hefty losses.

It was reopened last week, allowing bets to be made on each of the dog races in three states. In a single bet, a $1.60 favourite was backed with a $12,000 bet. The dog was beaten on the post.

The TAB operators taking the bets only agreed to take half of the wagers proposed in the second hour of betting because of the losses.

Otherwise, the Parramatta star’s account would have lost $150,000 in an hour.

It is normal practice at betting agencies with regular punters that bets are often halved to limit the exposure to punters facing losses. After the account had the freeze lifted last week, two bets went through on the Foran account for between $20,000 and $30,000 on two winning dogs.

One paid $1.60 and the other $6.

According to TAB insiders, those bets were most likely to have been placed by a Foran associate using his betting details and account.

They believe the bets from Thursday night were not based on specific tips because they involved every one of the greyhound races and then switched to the obscure horse races in South Africa.

A single bet of $20,000 was placed on a race in Vaal, but the horse ran last.

The betting stopped after the South African wager.

That Foran was released from an intensive rehab program just hours before the betting spree has convinced the TAB the gambler was Foran himself.

The former Manly and now Parramatta player was admitted to rehabilitation in a top-line Queensland facility three weeks ago.

He had taken an overdose of prescription drugs in his Rocks apartment after an acrimonious split from his partner of six years, Rebecca Pope.

The pair have two young children who live with Pope in a new home recently purchased by Foran on the northern beaches.

While rumours of Foran’s betting habits have surfaced in recent weeks, his management has insisted his problems are limited to the relationship breakdown.

Foran returned to training with the Eels yesterday morning and will now continue the rehabilitation process in Sydney because of his commitment to the club.

The Saturday Telegraph contacted Foran and his manager George Mimis last night but they were unavailable for comment

He's popping around to Nathan Hindmarsh's place for a barbie tonight.

He merely wanted to have more in common with Nathan, someone he always looked up to, embodying the spirit of the great Parramatta club (4 lousy premierships, 13 glorious wooden spoons in their wonderful history).

I don't think he bothers training with the team, he just flies in for the games. Didn't train at all for the first six rounds with his hammy problem and then goes of to rehab for a drug problem for three weeks. Celebrates his release from rehab with a gambling binge.

Glad he's not our problem. I said it all along, this guy was our major problem last year. White anted Toovey all year last year and had made his decision to go to Parra well before his poorly acted announcement to leave.

This may also open up another way that the players receive TPAs.

TAB and NRL have a close working relationship and can ask for betting history of their players.

Quite sad for such a young person, with a young family, to go from rehab straight back to gambling @

Maybe they won't let him out so soon next time - if he bothers to return :shake:

Wow. If this is true - it's actually really bloody sad.

Putting all the footy stuff aside for a moment, if Foran has gone on a gambling binge like that the minute he's out of rehab - and had someone putting bets on for him even while he was there, apparently - he has got some serious mental health issues.

All the feel-good 'he wants to be back on the field' stuff is a load of crap. If his mental state is that out of control he needs to be under medical supervision until he is capable of coming up with a halfway sensible plan to sort his life out. This is only going to end in tears and, whatever you think of the bloke, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, or especially their family.

Sad situation. ...I can understand the NRL working with the TAB to try and make sure players arent placing bets on NRL games , ensuring those bets get placed by spouses , mates etc....but...how the fork do details like this get leaked ? Amounts bet, time periods, what events were bet on, wins or losses - even the odds bet at ???!!! How does the terrorgraph even print this type of stuff without a source ? If there is a source , wouldnt this be some type of breach of privacy ?

A single bet of $20,000 was placed on a race in Vaal, but the horse ran last.

Sorry Bourbon Beccy, not true. Not in the slightest. A 30 second check of the pools of every race at Vaal on Thursday night shows nowhere near $20k in the win pool of any of the races.

It's the same at Dapto - there were 2 races where the pool was over 10k. If anybody - Foran or a professional punter - was having 10k bets on the dogs their own bet would take the price to $1.50. The only time punters can bet in those amounts are on Saturday afternoons.

I'm afraid that gambling has insidiously become a large part of NRL to its detriment and I mean detrimental to all who follow and play now and even more into the future F*** Me little kids are now playing gambling games at school KF will not be the only player suddenly with a disposable income that gets addicted to gambling .... I hit my remote as soon as the gambling adds come on before and during a game ..... ****s me to tears
