Weev I really cant see the point in griping about DCE. Again I say DCE for good or bad is here to stay. Complaining wont change one thing, other than to continue the negativity about the Manly side. Its time to move on. Complain about tactics used by Barrett and DCE for sure. But complaining about DCE's contract status is a waste of energy.
 
Funny how people are stating that all we need is a quality 6. How do we do that with no money?

Let’s just say Tom Wright turns into a superstar ( not saying he will) , how do we upgrade him? Or any other quality half we get or cultivate for that matter. Green worked well, but we couldn’t go close to Warriors offer.

This is Dalys team, he needs to run it properly or fu$k off.

There is something they can do about it Bear, they could drop him until he wants to leave....

Like Tigers did to Farah. Will that happen? Probably not, but it’s an option down the line if he keeps playing like a busted arse..

You don't seem to get it. If he leaves for another club, we are left with a huge percentage of the contract for the next 5-6 years. That's money out of the cap for no benefit to us. We are stuck with him

No I do get it, as posted in other pages.
I’m happy if we were to pay some of the freight, say 200 or 300k per season.

And yes that’s a mil over 5 years but I still think we’d be better off. Team harmony for one would be dramatically better..
 
I remember how crap the cowboys were for years even thou they had the best half in the game thurstan. It wasnt till they got more first grade quality players around him that they became a top team. Manly has too many reserve graders atm. Add that too our injuries and we are screwed till they come back and others either improve or are replaced with first grade standard guys

This is all bull$hit mate, this is none of DCE's fault, for a start you have no idea what he's being paid, is he being paid more than Jack Bird, Anthony Milford, Ash Taylor, Ben Hunt, and Jonathon Thurston,? none of these players are playing better than him, Ben Hunt is riding on the coat tails of a team that has only lost three games, so his form looks good, but he could easily lapse into the player that we know Ben Hunt can be.
DCE's contract obviously has/ had a third party agreement , which may not have been available to any other players.
While Watmaugh was earning well over $600,000 as season, he expected DCE to play for the next three seasons for $75,000, the club is at fault here for not upgrading him before all of this $hit started. The Knights now know that they got Ponga fairly cheap and will look to upgrade him again before his contract is up, this all creates harmony with a player you want to keep.
Would we be in a better situation if Foran also decided to stay? , no way.
We are NOT going to find a better half than DCE,so just accept that the whole team is not performing, hell we threw a lot of money at Kane Elgey, and look where he is now.

Inspite of the evidence to the contrary .......he brought a house in the Gold Coast .."he was outa here".......
I've never once heard him say he was doing it for Manly .......

On the halves issue ...in your own words Foran was even trying to get away from him.

There's a weird level of irony that he is now having to play with Walkz as his halves partner again.
His potential is at hooker.

Boring news. I've never heard class players such as Lyon, Ballin, King or Kite say anything negative about DCE. My guess is they have more brains than to waste it on hating.

If anybody ever offers me a $1.3 mil contract I'm going to say Yes.

I give up, reading some of these comments is doing my head in, for a start Manly withdrew their offer so he had no choice but to accept the Gold Coast.

Since 2011 he has played in a grand final, won the Clive Churchill and despite injuries made the finals and just missed the finals.

The fact he bought a house up here on the GC and still came back to Manly tells you he is committed to Manly.
