This whole thing about "Match fitness" is over stated, yeah there is some added fitness gained in combat as you can't totally replicate the physical fatigue and pain from real high intensity contact but it's not a light n day difference.Really lacking match fitness - we can't carry him for too long. He needs to get up to fitness levels quick. He is super value and he does bring real energy and great yardage but he can't be a liability in defence because he is gassed.
Pre season training is hard as farrrrk,especially at Melb, that is why they come out of the blocks running on all cylinders every year without fail.(George Rose survived at Manly but at Melb he struggled in the training department---different training philosophies)
