manly have just signed DCE for more seasons although i doubt the NRL can register that until november
foran making noises about going around again and playing really well

his manager is doing the right thing

I think Foz has been one of- if not THE best player for us this year so far. However, I would prioritise the ****e out of Shoe to get a shot at the 6 jersey as soon as we can.
He’s the future and the future has arrived. Looking around, it’s a young mans game.

Foz*can play the benji marshal role.
I think shoe will remind a few people how good he actually is (once he makes a return)

*(No disrespect or disregard for Foran and his hearty effort)

agree 100% but a dce and schuster combo seems to lack a bit of structure. I say that without watching them, but they both seem very attacking and seem to struggle with control . foran adding some of that is clouding the waters somewhat

Haven’t read any of the replies yet, but I won’t hook into Schuster personally, but **** it is dumb timing

He hasn’t played this season, our forwards are currently decimated, Foran is playing outstanding footy, and the manager puts him up like he is bigger than the club demanding the 6 spot

You’ve played a year of first grade footy son, bide your time, learn from one of the best, and let the career come, rather than your team coming out publicly like this, poor look that only ever goes one way for the player

They’d do well, and many on here would too, to think back to a young fella named Hopoate that kicked up this kind of stink 2 years back, where is his career at the moment ?

Well what do you expect from his manager I guess he's doing his job in trying to get josh into a better position at the club then he already is.

Dez won't play josh at 5/8 this year unless injuries or players get a rest so there's no point in him losing weight if he's going to be used as a battering ram at second row.

hopefully we see josh out there somewhere sooner rather then later he just needs to stay injury free.

Very interesting to notice Gould for the first time has nothing to say on any rugby league subject as Schuster will be ideal for the dogs at the moment .With Schuster as his creative half ,Gould can get rid of 3 players in Flanagan ,Averello , Wakeham and has 2 extra spots for his top 30 .
Let's wait and see what Schuster has to say when he faces the media next as we have not seen him play or on our player media interviews this year .Schuster is a Manly boy and is hard to see him leaving Manly unless Des wants him out the door and resign Foran till 2025 like Evans .
But the dogs still need an organising half. Schuster is not that player.

2 parts:
1) I wouldn’t believe a word that comes from these reporters mouths - their pad to get “clicks” and get people talking.
2) Schuster must be retained by Manly. And I think will be prioritised.
The kid has been unlucky with injury but with some time on the field, could be exactly what we need at 6 to push past the bottom 8 side we currently are/have been.

Sticking with Foz and DCE - we know where that gets us.

Kids like Schuster are special and he should be developing into more of a spine role (sooner rather than later). Foz only has a 1yr contract - so what’s the clubs plans past that?….
It doesn't always come from the player though...you can't trust their managers. If it was just completely fabricated, you can bet the media would be able to find better 'clicks' than a non-event like Schuster is at the moment. It sounds plausible to me.

I’m a fan of DCE moving to Hooker and Foz playing 7. Just wish Des agreed ; )

It worked for Tooves!
This would seem to be a pretty radical change but I would like to see Jake moved to hooker (but not played as dummy half), Schuster at lock, and DCE and Foz retained as seven and six respectively. DCE and Foz could share the dummy half role, with Jake essentially an extra ball playing prop in attack, and Schuster alternatively a ball playing lock and second five-eight. This scenario could fundamentally change the nature of our attack, and we would lose nothing in defence as well. Unfortunately, Croker would probably find himself out of the seventeen, as we definitely don't need any more utilities on the bench.

With all players available, the seventeen could look like this.
Aloiai
Jake
Paseka
Davey
Ola'katau
Schuster
DCE
Foz
Garrick
Parker
Topiluto
Koula
Turbo

Walker
Lawton/Bullemore
Taupau
Sipley/Keppie

Rarely are razzle dazzle footballers (particularly halves) ever elite. They’re exciting and they do freakish things but they’re rarely ever elite. If you look at the biggest superstars the game has seen, they’ve always been measured in their approach.

I worry about the Harlem Globetrotter in Schu when it comes to playing in the halves. I can only really think of Marshall as a half that was able to make a career out of flamboyance in a position that demands discipline and control.

As it stands, in the back row, he gets 1/3 of the touches he would get at 6 and most weeks last year, there were talking points about some silly plays that needed to be ironed out of his game. The law of averages suggest that more touches equal more silly plays.

I would proceed with caution if I was Manly.

And with only 1 comp to show for it, in terms of him running a side, in a freak season by historical standards.

Schuster to lock, Jake to prop. I'm imagining Schuster as the scheming ball playing, decoying, putting people through gaps or go yourself type of forward that we want and crave for.

Thought that with the fairly substantial investment already in Latu Fainu some time ago would have been a clear indication of Manly 's intention for a progression in the 6 role . Josh [ Schuster ] apparently had no issues playing in the back row last season , maybe he would prefer to play as a 6 but sure that he is realistic enough to accept the current positional preferences at Manly and certainly from last season ongoing . His form was hardly stellar at the end of last season and injury prone tendencies has hardly been ideal either . Sure that he also accepts that D C E and Foz will be the halves pairing for a while yet . Still under contract until 2024 and can hardly see Manly approving any release for him even if he was feeling even mildly disgruntled at the present time and which could just be a beat up in essence .

Agree with you.
Just saying although it maybe true, I won’t believe a word till it comes from the Schuster camp or the club.

Media is media. They are paid to create more media.
Fair enough. His management team know he can earn a sizeably larger sum playing in the halves. With Foran’s contract floating about for next year, I’d say they’re getting nervous that next year’s opportunity for Schu to show his wares and potentially earn an upgraded deal are hinging on Manly’s decision with Foran.

When Foran signed, it was for one year with an additional year at the club’s behest. So to Schu and his management, it’s two years TOPS of bouncing in and out of the side or a permanent fixture in less desirable position. All of the sudden this prospect extends to a third season, and surprise surprise, we get this story. Not hard to believe at all.

With one Fainu brother gone to Wests, perhaps the mgr is angling for Schuster to potentially move. They offered him a ****load of $$ in 2019.
Signing Foran for another year will not help the situation.
