Salary Cap Witch Hunt. **Appeal unsuccessful**

i am not really up to date with all this due to busy times, but can someone tell me is the only issue that caused this fine is that manly apparently help set up 3rd party payments, when this should all be done through player management etc..

Sounds like it, despite what Greenslime is saying I’m betting it’s TPA technicality’s.

Am I the only one who thinks Bozo up and quitting last year around the time this was coming to a head is suss ? Coincidence or convenient ?

Being no longer employed they couldn't compel him to assist with the investigation, and quite clearly he didn't even lift a finger to participate. Be interesting to see how he handles these allegations moving forward. The news report I saw was focusing on Bozo as much as the issue itself. Clearly Todd thinks he is in it up to his eyeballs.
Why though when bozo does it does he get called out and slandered yet when Gee quits at the broncos its just unfortunate. Wouldn't have anything to do with news limited would it?

NRL boss Todd Greenberg claims the integrity unit repeatedly tried to interview Bob, but failed to mention it was while the club legend was overseas on holidays.

Investigators requested a Skype interview with the 70-year-old, who had no means of arranging it, let alone understanding what Skype is.

Bob offered to speak with investigators as soon as he returned but was told it would be too late.

Ray chose not to weigh into the specifics of the argument for obvious reasons.

“Given he’s been one of my best mates for over 30 years and is part of the Continuous Call Team for those 30 years, I’ll refrain from offering my comments in the interest of being accused of a perceived bias.”

But, when questioned if Bob would keep his job as part of the Continuous Call Team, Ray issued a staunch defence of his mate.

“We have an arrangement. When I go, he’ll go and vice versa. In other words, we’re joined at the hip.

“I can tell you I have no intention of going anywhere in the short term and nor does he.”

How is Manly still paying Mr Plod? He has retired.
Did someone sign him for three years on a contract that stipulated he'd get paid regardless? If so, that person should be sacked...
perhaps it was JOKEelly.

From my reading of the situation, the problem is that manly introduced players to second parties, when under the rules they should be third parties.

Interesting point from Paul Kent in his blog just now:

Q: "Hi Kenty, seems like a massive cop out from the nrl to allow manly to continue playing for points, how is this any different to the dogs and the storm who systematically cheated the cap as well?"

A: "Manly don't get penalised points by the NRL because they are under the cap. Yet it was the NRL secretly tipping them off not to buy players because they are under the cap. So no intent was taken into account, just convenience. Extraordinary."

Se here: https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/03/26...-on-former-manly-sea-eagles-player-contracts/

"Manly coach Trent Barrett, who began his tenure in 2016 and is contracted until the end of 2020, received an official warning from the NRL...That also applies to previous Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey, who took over from Des Hasler in 2012 and then was replaced by Barrett at the end of the 2015 season."

You took 2 paragraphs out!! The "that also applies to Toovey" refers to the immediately proceeding line - "Trent is in the clear".

Manly coach Trent Barrett, who began his tenure in 2016 and is contracted until the end of 2020, received an official warning from the NRL.

"What I would say is that Trent was put into a difficult position in some of these discussions," Greenberg said.

"He complied continually with the integrity unit's investigation. But there's no evidence to suggest there is any accreditation issues for Trent. Trent is in the clear."

That also applies to previous Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey, who took over from Des Hasler in 2012 and then was replaced by Barrett at the end of the 2015 season.

Toovey told NRL.com he had not been interviewed during the salary cap investigation, which began last July.

Big day for anti Manly sentiment on social media.

I had a world record ( for me) day yesterday with over 250 likes, mentions and retweets.

I’m lucky if I get 10 a week usually!

Today, I’m at home making Rock Cakes and Scones ( weather not conducive to fishing).

**** them all really , going off half cocked and that includes most of the journo’s who don’t do any research just plagiarise someone else’s work and have no ****ing idea.

Mob of pricks the lot of them!
