PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Manly v Tigers [Round 17, 2020]

Still a chance 12 points will be equal last place. If not for DCE's field goal in Rd 2, Manly would still 100% be in the wooden spoon hunt. I'm not entirely convinced Manly still can't finish in last place. More chance the Dogs & Foran jagging four wins (Titans, Manly, Souths, Penrith) than Manly getting one win against anybody at all.

wtf...

Brisbane still have to play Penrith and the Eels in their last 4 games. Also given how hopeless they have been this season, the Dogs should be put away comfortably by both Penrith and South Sydney.

We’ll comfortably finish away from last place

By the way can anyone explain to me why we are favourites with the bookies ??

I know the Tigers have a few internal issues BUT seriously ????

I cant believe it either.

have a look at the two backlines and ask yourself how many of our backs would make their side. I come up with 1, DCE.

and if we wernt screwed in the parra game we would still be in the finals race with a chance.

Wests dangermen, well they have a few actually. I've not seen many of their games but a couple of their 30 point losses looked very similar to ours, namely highly competitive but then possession and momentum starts to turn against them, they keep trying hard but a late try or two and suddenly its 30-6 or something.
Their players will have a lot to play for, as will ours, it may well come down to which side is the first to dominate possession and field position. We need AFB and Marty to fire and we need to jag a try fairly early. Will be great to see Schuster if he plays.

A 1Funa, 2Miski, 3Hoppa, 4Schuster, 5Morgan could be fun to see. Will get shredded but who cares at this stage
We will not get shredded if all those promising players can step up to the challenge and rise to the occasion .
All the young players named in NRL club squads are there because they are ready to play in the NRL . The question is are they NRL quality
Some handle the pressure and shine like stars others are Overrawed like deers in front of headlights
My feathered friend @maxta has called those young players of ours young guns . I have not seen any of them fire up and light up the NRL field . I hope to see them do so so we can beat the tigers

When we assess how much fire power our young guns have . We need to set realistic benchmarks and this 19 year old gun is for real .

Dunno where to post this so...

While some on here were praising Madge for his willingness to drop players, seems some of the tigers aren't super happy about it.

- Not saying Madge was right or wrong, so read away.

Reports surfaced of a crisis meeting on Monday between Tigers players and coach Michael Maguire with the group airing their grievances about his propensity to drop players weekly.

During the exchange players said they were walking on eggshells and weren't able to gain any confidence out of fear of being dropped after a poor performance.

The Tigers seem to be at a crossroad within Maguire's tenure as the club deals with another finish outside the top eight for the ninth consecutive year.

(if true, as usual)

Those players have had all year to impress and they did not deliver so now they are taking the focus off their playing ability and blame the coach .

Where is their character ?

if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen
Go and play at NSW cup level where there is no pressure

Interesting stat for this game is that both teams have conceded 192 points in their last five games. Perhaps a tryathon looming

If we turn up wanting to play and go without giving away a penalty or six again (marty jake) dont drop the ball(whole team) or suffer injuries for the first 30min scoring a couple along the way we will win
Keep it together for the first 30 then the confidence will start to kick in again for us and we should roll over them

Both teams have conceded a Mediocre 192 points in five games and the tender tiger boys have a fear of being dropped .
