The Sea Eagles are in the midst of a major roster revamp.
It appears then, if this report is true, that this season has already been written off as far as a top 4 or top 8 spot is concerned as far as the club is concerned.

No doubt Curtis Sironen, Jorge Taufua, Tevita Funa, Reuben Garrick, Dylan Walker, Kieran Foran and Morgan Boyle can (and do) all read the press on this. So this report may be one way to let the general public and especially the Manly faithful know that all of these players have been put on notice that it's a 'perform this year or you're out' situation -including Marty T.

It will be interesting to see how many of these guys are at our club next year. There's a lot of experience across those names, particularly with Kieran, Jorge, Dylan and Curtis. If they are gone, the club will need to make sure that experience and leadership are brought in - I don't want to see them all replaced with just relatively cheap up and comers; we've done a lot of that lately, and that takes a bit of time to pay off (if it does).

Potential side for 2022 could be

T. Trbojevic
Saab
Walker
Suli
Funa/Tuipulotu
Shuster
DCE
Paseka
Faniu
J. Trbojecic
Su'A
Olakauatu
Brown

Lawton/Cust
Aloiai
Davey
Sipley/Saddler
I like it but unless Walker can get back to his best at centre then he's money could be spent on someone like Naden. That's starting to look a top 4 side! Tough pack speed, creativity and depth.

And mustn't overlook Koula on one wing. Yeh he's only 18, but super fast and he wasnt brought into the 30 this year so quickly to fill spaces. Obvious he is considered highly by the coaching staff for the wing or full back. Reportedly one of, if not, the fastest player around at present .
I haven’t seen Koula play, except for some highlight reels, but I wonder why he keeps playing in the centres in SG Ball if he is considered a fullback? Makes me question that thinking.

Maybe he's not up to it yet in terms of positioning; or maybe calling the defense from the back?

Great team but Tuipulotu is definately a centre (and I would release Funa - or again, play him as a back up centre if re-signed). If Suli doesn't shift to wing (imo he absolutely should!), we need to recruit another specialist winger - preferably one that plays FB well. But Su'A and Brown will certainly reinvigorate our backrow. Fingers crossed (Also Keppie another bench possibility)

A rebuild is an absolute necessity and letting go Marty go and freeing up 800K of the cap makes sense. DCE to the Broncos would be a good outcome for our cap and the timing is right because the Broncos won't want to compete with the second Brisbane side for his services. Additionally they will not be resigning Milford so opportunity knocks. Of the remaining players coming off contract at the end of the season I expect few will be retained. The club needs to get it right and Su'a and Brown are the right type of tough and mobile forwards we need to acquire. Reynolds and Schuster would make an excellent haves pairing. Lets hope we can do this rebuild well as this is our window of opportunity before the 17th team is announced. We can't afford to get it wrong again.

Definite no for Naden IMO. At present, we are a team high on raw talent but low on resilience and character. I actually think that’s why we are struggling. There are far too many gifted idiots in our squad. We got rid of AFB which helps but the stench of off-field garbage is still well and truly stinking out the joint.

it doesn’t get any better with the juniors coming through. Not saying they’ll play fg but there are some questionable young guys in the club’s system. We do the complete opposite of Melbourne who sign on character...we sign on talent and disregard the rest. It must stop if we are going to dig ourselves out of a hole.

Mate, Suli aint no winger either. Not athletic enough, quick enough or good enough under the high ball. He can be a good centre when he has his head in the game, but doesn't read the attack well at times and can be lazy. Not sold on Suli at centre or wing. Could get rid of both Walker and Suli and go after Staggs and play Harper as the other centre

Pre season would have told you to give up the turps but I am a Staggs fan and not only is he a quality player who 'makes things happen', is a true competitor even when the Broncs lose by 50 - 16 often scores 2 -3 tries....SUli has been uneventful and I rate him on his day, but 1 out of 7 games does not cut it, in fairness to Walker I'll, wait for him to play centre where he belongs and would prefer a true Fullback (even the Blacktown bloke) to be there and allow Walker a chance to show if he still has it....

No not giving up on my team at all , in fact it’s the only thing holding me to the game . BUT I’m just very disillusioned with the game as a whole , and it’s not just this year.

If you’ve followed what I’ve said I’ve been saying it for about 5 years now.

And clearly I’m not Robinson Caruso on here either.
If all this is true about a major reshuffle it really causes mixed emotions. It is good they are doing something about a backline that has largely been a failure, but most of the talk has been been targeting forwards.
For this talk to happen after two rounds is really sad. It means the club has given up on this teams success, and this year is now only about going through the motions and avoiding the spoon. So very sad. I'll admit Mark it is very hard to get motivated, imagine how the players are feeling. No positive energy, no results, and less fans.
If the upshot of all this is success starting next year I guess we will look back and say it was necessary, but boy does it suck right now.

Yeah tbh not sold on him either, I figured he could provide good metres at the start of our sets, and would be quite difficult to stop 10m out from the opposition line. Having said that, he would most probably be a complete disaster under high balls, and in turning to chase kicks, etc. I just don't think he has the skill set to make a good centre either.

Huge fan of Staggs (and Farnworth), and Coates.. But I think a Hynes would be more beneficial for us (and more cost-effective). I think in a couple of seasons, guys like Tuipulotu, and Ala could be good enough in the centres. But considering our wing/backup fullback depth in lower grades is pretty weak. If Saab and Dylan Smith can't become genuine FB backup (and Koula still has a few years to go), we will find ourselves in the same situation every year. I like Harper - but surely with some cash at the end of the year, we can really go after a quality outside back (plus guys like Su'a and Brown in the forwards) - I estimate that if we release Taupau, Foran, Sironen, Gosiewski, Boyle, Croker, Parker, Garrick, Funa and Taufua we will have approx. 2.5M (Su'a, Brown, and a Hynes-type should set us back approx. 1.6M - leaving the rest for upgrades and retaining our talented jnrs)

Post of the year.

Imagine the culture of throwing a season away after TWO games.

Empty stands , fans pissed off , players not giving a **** !!

Honestly if this continues it wouldn’t surprise me if they ask us to hand our license in so they can appoint an area that actually gives a ****!!
