I would think the thinking is that another club is more likely to pick him up now rather than when he is 2 years older ... and that Kapow also has a better chance of signing a longer contract than he would in 2 years time ... works for both parties to do it now ..

There’s too many sides in Sydney.

Potentially they just don’t renew the contract, yes it makes no sense to leave the north side empty BUT if there’s little interest and we don’t rate then “ Seeya”.

Get rid of Manly / Cronulla

Two new sides in Brisbane , one plays out of Suncorp one plays out of Robina.

Can't argue with you Mark. I remember in 2007 I was in the Manly Corso and watched the grand final there. No vibe whatsoever. A majority of the general public in Manly don't give a stuff.
Bur then again, you look at Parramatta and it's a wasteland with a sewerage river running through it. Dreadful place, and as long as there is Parramatta, there must be Manly. Eat those cookies Todd.
Lean times indeed, let's hope we can get through it.

If you go by our coaches' form in the past he'll sign a heap of players with back ended contracts and in 3 or 4 years we'll be in the same position. We need a roster where we only have 3 to 5 players coming off contract each year. We had the to best two props in the game, we've let one go and now we're letting the other go. These back ended contracts keep coming back to bite us in the arse.

Looking at these figures from 2018 to now, just two clubs have managed to increase their membership, Doesn'tmatta and Newcastle. That, of course, reflects their better on-field performances.
But all of the others have remained static or plunged alarmingly, with Illawarra and Canterbury dropping 6,000 to 7,000 members. It's not just Manly struggling for members it's rugby league in general not having as many passionate supporters willing to pay for a club membership.

A rebuild is an absolute necessity and letting go Marty go and freeing up 800K of the cap makes sense. DCE to the Broncos would be a good outcome for our cap and the timing is right because the Broncos won't want to compete with the second Brisbane side for his services. Additionally they will not be resigning Milford so opportunity knocks. Of the remaining players coming off contract at the end of the season I expect few will be retained. The club needs to get it right and Su'a and Brown are the right type of tough and mobile forwards we need to acquire. Reynolds and Schuster would make an excellent haves pairing. Lets hope we can do this rebuild well as this is our window of opportunity before the 17th team is announced. We can't afford to get it wrong again.
