[Resurrected] Marty's rumoured wanderings thread

Well it shows we’re still back ending contracts and this time it’s not Hasler.

Wonder who else has decided this is the way to go and how many players we’ve backended contracts with?

Not convinced he is gone but the evidence seems damning....
Look - we have lost more talented players in the past and will again in the future, things is if he wants out, the negative energy across the entire squad gets ugly and is far worse for Manly long term keeping a player who's heart is not with us....you want out - GO !!

I liked the look of Sipley and am happy for him to get a better go plus there’s Tanginoa to take Marty’s spot.

I’d love to keep Taupau but the writing seems to be on the wall.

He’ll be a loss that’s for sure as he and Fonua Blake are a great pair for us.

It’s not Taupau’s fault we backended him.

If his heart isn’t into it, then no point him hanging around.

We need another experienced front rower in the squad. One good, cheap option could be Seumanufagi from Cronulla. He’s hardly getting a start there and is a strong up and down type of player. Maybe one to fill a whole in the middle and would be looking for an opportunity.

We’ve got a couple of good young ones but we need someone to stiffen us up with a bit of experience.

Marty is one of the most devastating props in the game.

Yet his teams finish bottom 4 more often than not.

Think of the front row rotation of champion sides - consistent, no-nonsense, tacklers, rarely flashy.

Happy for him to stay and be part of manly’s resurgence, but if he goes, we can spend his $$ elsewhere.

Why would it? and why would we want to keep a player who doesn't want to be here?
If Easts can poach Kapow, along with all their other new signings and existing stars, don't this make a farce of the NRL?
If we can't keep one of our most consistent players doesn't this signal that the once great Manly club is unable to compete?
We have crap owners, will be getting another crap coach, have dodgy administrators, a crap Leagues Club which will close next year, TPAs that the NRL claim to be illegal, a home ground the NRL deems is not up to standard, constant in-fighting, inability to attract a marquee player, a failed association with Blacktown, an Anti-Manly agenda by the NRL, under-performing teams in all grades (except Under 16s),dwindling crowds and, I'm sure, we'll have the lowest membership in 2019 if Carthorse is appointed.
How can we compete on and off the field these days?
I'm just trying to be a realist. If anyone can explain how we can address all our inadequacies, and re-dress the inequity among a small suburban club like Manly and the financial might of Easts, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canterbury, Penrith and Parramatta then please do so. I'd love nothing better than to believe we can not only survive but prosper.

So I've been told how the Roosters do it. Well my mate is pretty adamant this is how they get away with paying players out of the cap and TPAs.
Uncle Nick has many of golf days with the players. On these golf days uncle Nick will get a player and make a bet with him that he cant beat him on a certain hole. The bet is usually 20k plus.
Let's just say uncle Nick never wins a hole.....

Well Kapow won't get paid a cent....his putts will end up in the car park of City Ford!!

Have been told exactly the same.

Alarming if true.

There are no decent players off contract to replace him with. We haven't even replaced lane yet.
If you have the cap space contracts mean nothing - it will be the ability to attract the player not afford him that will hurt us
