[Resurrected] Marty's rumoured wanderings thread

How mate... just add up tbeir top ten players and you will see it is a mathematical impossibility that they are able to sign another twenty two players with what’s left. Then there’s the small fact that the caliber of players they are purportedly signing with the leftover money are full of guys who would demand huge salaries at any other club. What happened to the rule that a player must be signed at market value? David Mead, James Roberts etc sign for way under market price and there’s no problem. Remember Glen Stewart, and how his contract was rejected by the NRL? They make it up as they go along. And don’t bother asking why the press don’t notice this stuff. They rely on the NRL to keep their cushy jobs, and are just propaganda merchants. Every now and then Kent and co pretend to fire up, but at the end of the day, when push comes to shove, they all know which side of the bread gets buttered. The NRL has become completely , totally, unreservedly, absolutely, thoroughly and unconditionally CORRUPT!

I’m with you mate, while I said they could potentially be doing it legally - I don’t see how they are. With their current squad, those coming in next year and importantly those being upgraded, I don’t see how they can be under the cap.

There’s obviously a massive inclusion of third parties in there.

If Manly allow it, he can be shopped or talk to any club.

Obvious that Manly do not want to pay 900k for a prop on cap in 19.
Obvious that Marty falls on the wrong side of team DCE/Turbo(s).

Obvious that the Roosters can pay him 300K on cap and 600K in Uncle Nicks TPA garden sale.

Talk of 2 sides within a side seems on the money.

Cartwrong (ie older barret) is aligned with team DCE, and its pretty clear that team "kapow" is not onboard the DCE train.

I have never seen a single shared photo of the 2? Socially or post match.

Shame to lose Kapow. Is such a damaging prop that gets through a lot of meters. But I feel he really wants out and I'm glad he is moving on if he's lots the fight for Manly. At least it frees up some cap for someone that might have some pride in the jumper

They could be well be doing it legally but this is why there needs to be more transparency. Look at their current squad and then potentially Taupau, Crichton, Hall, Morris all coming in (Ferguson out). Plus you have players like Manu, Radley and Latrell all upgraded this year.

There’s a stink about it all.
Yep especially when you consider Toddy is saying the amount of 3rd party deals continues to decrease throughout the NRL. Uncle Nick must be ramping up his $20,000 putts out on the golf course.

But Todd has assured us that everyone’s under the cap and that a number of teams haven’t even spent all the money they are allowed. I’m waiting for Todd to come out and let the league world in on the joke that the Rorters are SIGNIFICANTLY under, just like their friends at the Sharks.
They just buy everyone , pretty soon they’ll have the NSW Origin side AND the QLD Origin side as their reserves.

It’s tragic really, but funny as well , funny in that you see them announce yet another star signing and think “ more rorting happening”.

Funny also that that every league fan feels the same way , even the Rorters fans!!
Rugby League is in trouble and it's because of this kind of nonsense. I believe why The Roosters are fast becoming the most hated side in the competition. The TPA system must be either scrapped or made transparent, but I doubt either will happen in the near future.

Look it's pretty obvious he isn't happy at the club and that's fair enough. At the moment he is probably over the off field drama and the constant speculation and rumours. If he goes he goes, I like Marty and think he is an awesome player but if we are going to get upwards of 900k to spend along with some we probably already have saved it will allow us to make some key signings. Biggest now is how the fu*k can Roosters afford him?
As Roosters supporters will tell you., players go to the Roosters for success and will gladly play for half the money, oh by the way, winning two grand finals in over forty years is how they measure success.
The thing is they got a massive leg up in both of those GF wins

And to think that they don't need to spend all that money buying a premiership winning team.
As big Kezza said, "everyone needs an Alan Bond in their life". Or words to that effect.
The rorters Alan Bond was Kevin Shayne Hayne in 13.
Refs are the much cheaper option.

.... I agree refs are the ones that can easily manipulate game outcomes ...NRL rapidly becoming the League equivalent of World Championship Wrestling ... I'm about done with this new ****ty version of the great game I grew up playing and watching ........ sweet dreams Harves ... time for bed

That article = ...rubbish!

I love (read hate) how they can put Marty to go to Roosters, then one sentence later type, Politis has said no one has spoken to Marty.

Sports 'journos' are the lowest of the low. I wonder if Buzz has gotten any more payments tips from Eddie recently?

It seems all they want to do if make the Rorters strong, dont worry about any other team. Lets face it, we got marty before his contract was up at the tigpies if I remember correctly, he wasnt happy there. It seems when it gets hot in the kitchen Marty doesnt like the heat if the story is true . I hate it when a player comes out in the media and says he isnt going anywhere and loves where he is, I dont believe that crap anymore.I remember one Trent Hodgkinson saying exactly the same before he signed with the Bulldogs, so that burnt me and I dont really believe too much what players say these days

Thats huge when you think him, Dce and the Turbos will eat up 4mil of our cap in 19 .Dear God.
The difference is those 4 take up mostly cap money because we have been knee capped by Turdy on our tpas. Unlike the rorters where Tedesco Latrell Cronk Cordner probably only take 300k each and the rest is bulksht dodgy Politis tpas.

The use of the word "legal" is interesting. Is it legal because the NRL let it happen or is it legal because the practice in consistent and promotes the published objective of the salary cap to create a level playing field for clubs. It is in my view what is happening at the rorters is both legally and morally wrong and should not be allowed. It creates a completely uneven playing field where only the financially powerful clubs can compete especially whilst the NRL seeks to crucify the weaker financial clubs for breaching ambiguous flimsy rules when in effect they are doing nothing different to what the more powerful financial clubs are doing. IMO There is no legality here the system is corrupt. IMO The manner in which Greenburg continually pigeon holes out alleged breaches with the atrocities committed by Melbourne (dual contracts), Canterbury (well over the cap) and Parramatta (fraudulent third party invoices) is at the very least ingenious. This circus has very little to do with legality.

Your last sentence says it all really!!

I must say I’d be very dissapointed if we lost Marty to a Politis TPA.

I’m fast running out of resolve for the game if this happens .

Look at their roster , look at who they are losing AND gaining and still they are on the hunt to buy the best available ( regardless of contract) players, Munster next apparently.

Fair dinkum , this will lose more than just Manly fans.
