[Resurrected] Marty's rumoured wanderings thread

Reading on twitter last night about rumours of Api off to the Knights next season - so there's your answer

Pffft, it was Marty's question. I'll pass the answer along. And mention it to Api as well. I'm sure he'd like to know what he is doing.

More speculation but nothing new about Marty moving and where he could end up: https://realsport101.com/news/sport...d-aaron-woods-both-playing-for-their-futures/

Suggestion is to either Roosters or Eels!!

"Martin Taupau
He has been sensational for the struggling Northern Beaches side this season featuring prominently in all 14 games for them so far. Among his highlights have been his tackle success of 94% (416/444). While he is top five in the League in run meters with a total of 2,301 at an average of 164.4 per game. While he is also in the top 25 in the League for tackles with 29.7 per game. And his total for the current campaign is 416 and counting. He also has solid attacking instincts for someone who weighs 112kg as he is getting away 3.3 offloads per match...

...Both Manly and Canterbury need Taupau and Woods to stay right where they are, salary-cap be damned! For the Sea Eagles Taupau is arguably the best and strongest member of their forward-pack and he has played exceptionally well for them this season. If he were to leave there would be a massive gap needing to be filled, one that Manly might not initially be able to replace. He’s adored down at Brookvale and would be sorely missed if he were to go..."

Prop Martin Taupau insists he doesn't know where rumours of him leaving Manly have come from but admits they are beginning to frustrate him.

Someone organize a banner for Brookie to show Kapow the Manly love

Strange comments as I would have thought that the coach and CEO would have told him that he isn't going anywhere and that he would just say that

Another example of our incompetant club and lack of leadership unless we are going a swap with Klemmer

I think that both the CEO and the coach have both come out and said Marty is not going anywhere but the stupid journo's keep making up stories just to heap more crap on us.

Hope that this really fires Marty up for the Drizzle game on Saturday

Paul Kent had a crack at the club again on 360, saying that Marty has been shopped around and the club should have had the decency to let him know.

Given the footage of Marty at today’s media, it’s obviously frustrating and having an effect on him.

As a fan it’s just as frustrating and I’ll be filthy if he is forced out.

It would hurt me too if I was getting shopped around with no idea.

If he is getting shopped and this is how our club operates with regard to contracted players, then it leaves a lot to be desired. Really poor form

If it's not true, then it's just another media beat up.

Whatever the case, gee it would be nice to get some good news out of our club about anything.

I’m just sick of the rumour and innuendo that week after week get thrown around.

I know the club can’t come out and clarify every situation, but there are some instances where clarity is needed, not just for fans but for players affected, as clearly Marty is getting fed up with continually seeing these rumours. If there had been clarification from the club to him personally I don’t believe these would be affecting him as they are.

Gee we are kidding, some one clarify this situation, at least to Marty, my goodness we have some issues. If it aint true come out and say... which leads me to logically assume something is going down.

Marty Taupau won't be going anywhere: Manly Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett
The coach responds to the speculation that Taupau might be a casualty of the salary cap drama.

There has been a tonne of speculation surrounding Manly's salary cap drama, and what consequences the club may face in terms of player casualties.

Marty Taupau, their beast of a forward, has been one of the players who has been thrown around as a target that other clubs may attempt to poach.

“There’s been a lot of talk around the game the last month about Marty Taupau,” James Hooper told NRL360.

“The best forward on the field in a losing side against the Roosters.

“We all know the Manly salary cap jigsaw is a real jumble and Marty Taupau is one name being talked about who is a player who could possibly move on at the end of the season."

Manly coach Trent Barrett set about crushing those rumours.

"He's here for another three years after this so there's no issue around that," Barrett told reporters on Friday

"Contrary to a lot of media reports, we're well under the cap so we don't have to move anyone.

"We won't be moving Marty and there will be no one in that side going.

"When salary cap stuff comes up, other sides will try and pick the eyes out of your best players and obviously he's one of them."

Taupau was easily the best man on the ground for the Sea Eagles last week in a tough 22-20 loss to the Roosters.

He ran for 290 metres, made 26 tackles, had three offloads and broke seven Roosters tackles.

"He (Taupau) was terrific last week," Barrett said.

"He cleaned up a couple of errors he had in his game (from) probably trying too hard.

"He's so big he does find himself in situations where he does offload the ball a lot, last week he picked his moments really well.

"Not only was he putting a lot of holes in their defence, but he was hitting the spots we needed him to hit as well he did a really good job and we're going to need that from him again.

"He's a real leader in our forward pack.

"He's a professional Marty, he wants more minutes."

I would love to see Taupau get questioned by Kent & Hopper then watch him as he unloads on them, both physically & verbally! To see Hooper with a bashed head, unable to speak & his pants pissed & sh%t would make my day! Kent lying next to him would look good also.........

Then they would be right and Marty would leave the club lol
