Game Day: Manly v Raiders [Round 13, 2017]

I think we're drawing a long bow if we are calling the pass from Hastings "sublime". It got the job done which is all that matters but it floated to him so let's not get too carried away. We really lacked the tight middle when API went off and most rucks Hastings was seen standing with his hands in the air looking for options either side; we lacked cohesion.

As for Manly maybe having a problem in the second half with letting teams get back into it...putting teams away is something you learn; it's
mostly mental. Canberra came at us hard in the second half and to hold on and still win is something Manly of the last couple of years couldn't do. These sorts of tough wins build belief and character. There is silver lining in Canberra pushing us to the limits today.

So apparently nothing has sunk in woth these fools. Again there were enemy infiltrators stinking up the hill.
Two of my enterage were directly addressed my these sub human pieces of filth with not a sir/madam uttered between them.
Who are these filthy vermin and why does my club continue to allow me to be subjected to them?
It's them or me. And it's my ground, so I'm not going to be the one who loses out on this.

Do we have a problem? First half leads. Second half squader. But a win is a win, I'll take it with a smile. Just hope would learn how to put teams away soon. Building for sure.
Watch all the games each weekend and you'll note a pattern. The teams that are leading comfortably at half time get hammered penalty wise until the game is closer then the referees will tend to put the whistle away. If you look closely, you'll find that any team with a 16+ point advantage at half time tend to get run down. The outliers are the teams that run away with a game and post up a big score, the meat of the curve suggests that most games close up dramatically with a relatively close finish.

This is the "product" they're selling, and teams getting belted is not good for sales..

/tinfoil hat😉

Not confident that Api would've banged the ball onto DCE's chest as quickly and sharply as Hastings did for the field goal attempt either.
If API was still out there wouldn't have needed to because he would probably have been there to tackle Rapana on that try he scored running from dummy half

Did we get a penalty in the second half?
Everything went the Faders way in that half because they needed help. They were stuffed from the 30 minute mark and half-time saved them from further embarrassment. Then the refs took it upon themselves to even up the contest.
I just saw that the 'official' penalty count was 6-4. If that's accurate I'm ....I don't know Who!

I was there live. Manly looked very relaxed for most of the second half, a bit of a worry.

Green looks slick and professional and well balanced. But he is ineffectual. No use looking pretty if you don't take it to the line. And his kick back inside on the 4th 20 out. Lovely balance, lovely skills. But the wrong play and straight to Austin. Not sure what to do about him frankly.

Seemed like a pretty physical contest in the first half and which probably would have had some effect on both teams. Possession and subsequent momentum shifts for whatever reason , seem to be the biggest factors to determine many games in recent seasons and just pleased that the Manly team were able to hang in there for extended periods and under real pressure . Not only character building but also importantly confidence and moral building . D C .E. of course deserves full praise again . Also like most posters here , thought Marty and A F B put in great efforts. Jake was solid , while he lasted , Walker did make a difference with a couple of classy touches but good to see Siro and Perret also go well . but i wish that Blake would show a bit more desperation in D . Another good committed team effort, a couple of lucky calls - Manly's way, but the better team definitely won [ Just ]

It was like being back at under 7s, where you played a shirthouse team in the comp and all the players would fight over who could go to dummy half next to run the length of the field for a try.

Potato, potarto. If Jake wasn't backing up from Origin, good chance he doesn't drop off that tackle either.

Nobody's questioning Api's defence, but it's not like Hastings can't tackle either; maybe it doesn't stand out as much because he's bigger. Little guy making tackles stands out more. But Hastings clearly has the better hands in attack.

As the minutes tick on...the more I am happy we won. I said before this win made me angry...but that was bourbon talking.

Whilst I wish we scored more in the second half....two points is absolutely vital in a comp as close as this. Well done boys!

Well Manly champs; it's 1.30am so it's time to find a heated doghouse to crawl into. (to sleep...not to Mitchel Pearce.)

It was an absolute pleasure watching the game live with you all, posting and being part of the roller coaster ride that is the game day thread.

Thanks again and hopefully post with you all tomorrow.

Party on!

🙂
