I'm kinda surprised at how confident some are about this week's match. We talk ourselves up as if we have premiership credentials when the reality is, the best we've managed is 3 wins in a row. I think Souths deserve to be spoken of ahead of Manly. They've managed 9 in a row.
No confidence at all in us not being able to make a dozen stupid errors during a game like this. Anyone who drops a ball this week needs to do 50 laps of Twin waters.

Got a feeling Jakes going to notch up a lot of tackles on Sat night, Des will want to keep on his starting props as long as he can. Then use Deluise for fresh bursts of energy and then add Lawman and Sironen when the eels start to fatigue. The eels are desperate to get their season on track again, we score early and put pressure on they may fold quickly. Des will target Oldfields side no doubt, first 10min will see where the eels are at mentally. On Oldfield, I always remembered that try combo with Jamie Lyon at Brookie, that was magic !!

This will be a tough game and we can't afford errors like last week. When we beat them on Anzac day it was an arm wrestle until the last 10 minutes and we strangled them out of the game with error free rock solid football. We need to replicate that performance to bag the 2 points.

So true, he's certainly been a journeyman for 10yrs also.
Yeah he has. Good luck to him though for continuing the journey. He's obviously had a lot of challenges along the way. BUT he is still playing. I hope he has a good game against us EXCEPT for two mistakes that lead to Manly tries. Even better if we can pin those mistakes on Queen Gutho. @ Go Manly.

That was a great Manly try indeed . I could not find the highlights of this try but I found this clip of Oldfields natural speed

We really need to be on our game this Saturday night. The forecast is for showers and its the type of game that the Whingers will want to play tight as they seek to redeem themselves. We need to be wary of an ambush after all the flack they have taken in the media this week.

We have lost half our front row so that is going to be a challenge negating what is one of their strengths.

We need to do the basics well and doing that means that Tom again can be the difference. Big test for us after such a bruising game against the Drizzle.
Can't help but feel Parra will just try to tuck it under the arm and hit it up all night then rely on Moses' kicking game. They're done on confidence so will get back to basics.

They'll take the Storm blue print from last week re Turbo - kick it high and long to Turbo so he takes the first hit up into a disciplined defensive line which negates him from the next tackle and maybe the third.
Munster did this especially well last week, Garrick and Saab take the next but aren't as dangerous. They controlled where Turbo got the ball knowing he rarely gives it to our wingers for the first hit up.
If they get close enough then Moses' short kicking game will be their weapon of choice bombing Saab or Garrick who drop the odd one or two and grubbers for repeat sets.

And no doubt Arfur will be training all week with his forwards to back into tackles looking for a penalty.

Storm and Parra are poles apart, we play like we did against Melb and keep our errors down to the bare minimum we should take this one out easily. Good point you make on players backing into tackles to get crusher penalties, maybe Des will have a word to the ref about this before kick off.

Very nervous snake this game I am, parra have a lot to play for and will be hungry for the win.

I have said all year south's are my smokies, Bennett factor and Reynolds last year defence is my only concern with them.

I'm sure Souffs can beat all the other contenders, with Melbourne being the exception. In the 35 NRL matches between the clubs Souffs have won just five! If Souffs are to win the comp they need to avoid playing the Storm.

Yep and pray the GF‘s not played in Melbourne if they can’t.

I don't think anyone will beat Melbs but think Souths are a bigger threat than Manly and Penrith.

The ol' 'no one has ever won comp after conceding 50' is over 100 years in the making.
