Don’t underestimate the loss of Reed Mahoney for the Eels. Id go as far as to say he’s been their best player when on the field this year and steers the ship pretty well for them.
Yep losing Mahoney effects their go forward in the middle which is their bread and butter this year. I honestly think Reed has been their best player this year. Huge loss. Also lost their biggest work horse in RCG and this has forced their most impactful edge player in Papalii into the middle. I think we can cover our losses better than Parra can. Yes we are short on Props but Marty will play big minutes, DeLuis is solid and Jake will have a stint up front. Parra have had to do a lot more reshuffling than us.

More importantly Mahoney is their best defensive player. He will be missed in the middle

The bookies must have a much higher opinion of our bench props than some of us ... they have us as raging favorites at $1.19 and Parra as rank outsiders on $4.50 ...

If I had a better gag reflex I would be tempted to put a lobster on the scumbags ..
We are paying that amount for very f&&@en good reason. This Eels side is a shot show and with a stronger side last week almost had 50 put on them by a less than stellar Souths side. If Parra beat us it will be a significant upset. Like all teams they have a chance but even with the props out we should be very confident and that is supported by the betting lines.

I am concerned we are heading into an ambush.
The first 10 to 15min of the game will be a good indicator to where the game is heading, we have a huge advantage in the backs, DCE, Shushter, Foran and Tommy are all at the top of their games. It's not ideal having 3 front rowers out for this game, but In all honesty, we should have to many points in us for Parra.

And further to those talking up Souths. Imo they are hardly better than us. We played them once in rd 2 with guys out and they got us by what ten pts. Their last 9 wins have all been largely blowouts against s$&@house teams not in the 8 (eels twice albeit - but imo they are a s$&@house team as well as we are seeing). Their last game against a decent team was v Penrith where they had 4pts shy of 60 put on them. I do also acknowledge we have had a fairly easy run as well. But Souths I do t believe are the threat some people think they are. Same level as us at best.

I like our chances against Souths but they are 17 and 3, that isn't down to luck. They can leak points but their attack is ruthless. With the same error/penalty count we had last week Souths would've put more on us than the Storm did.

And a kick option too, has kicked well out of dummy half. I posted before that he is a huge loss. We need to be on Dylan Brown, he is a threat. Lionel's job me thinks.
Brown has played right side all year so he'll be opposite Parker Foz and Schu.
Moses on other hand will be over on the left side, poor guy has a bad back so may be a little concerned about the prospect of Haumole getting hold of him (I would be).

I'm kinda surprised at how confident some are about this week's match. We talk ourselves up as if we have premiership credentials when the reality is, the best we've managed is 3 wins in a row. I think Souths deserve to be spoken of ahead of Manly. They've managed 9 in a row.
But we've gone WWWL WWWL WWWL WWWL the last 16 weeks so we should be back on the W train this week. I believe Des is OCD so he won't want to upset that beautiful sequence

This game decides if a top 4 is a possibility. In not too fussed win lose or draw as long g as we compete hard and have a high completion rate. Obviously its best to finish 4th and get 2 bites of the cherry and I think we are capable of knocking off Storm week 1 BUT if we lose we can plan for a 5th or 6th finish and keep out boys fresh for a big run home in the semis.
