Game Day: Manly v Eels [Round 18, 2019]

Important win in the context of the season.

Des did not look pleased though. We could have put 50 on them. We need to turn up for 80 mins next week if we are a chance against storm.

In the end 2 points in the bag. 2 points clear of 6th, and another +24 against parra and everyone seemed to get through the 80 mins.

Big game next week.

Manly had plenty in the tank. A few disallowed tries and almost tries but for clumsy execution. It would have been 50 with a bit more polish.

Dylan was good at 6. Combined well with cherry for the Garrick try.

Des can work on it this week.

Great arvo at brookie.
Agree, and let’s not forget we have melb away next week in the game of the round. No injuries, a bunch of disallowed tries plus the eels basically scoring 3/4 off rubbish plays, in not too worried at all. Wins a win and it gets us closer to the finals!

One of my rare ventures to brookie. Had a great day. Did not try to be picky. Just sat back and enjoyed the day ... and a beer or 3. We needed a win and we got it.
Can’t help myself. Have to make a comment. DCE is worth what he is being paid.
I liked the style and directness with the nice mix of short and long direct options, mixed up his play really well.

I really didn’t submit my post to seek attention. But if tafua continually shows little urgency, Garrick misses easy shots, cherry not finding the in goal continually with kicks, and Parker unco’s it up, we won’t be beating the teams that will show more than parramatta today.

The first half was great, the 2nd half appalling. We needed that point differential.

Post did match the game person I’ve never seen on here before
Gees man go easy!

A good win today ,it wasn’t a great win but a win all the same
At times we looked really good but other times we lacked the intensity to put them away
Just another game to take something away about how to compete for the full 80
All good for the games ahead

How did u like brookie and did u go to 4 pines?

Games today are being ruined by the atrocious play the balls, Manly are some of the biggest culprits in this area. I can't stand players not rising up with the ball before playing the ball, it is almost touch footy dumping.

The NRL had the chance to clean up most areas of the game by sticking with the big penalty counts but got weak under fan pressure and commentator opinions.

Watch out for Cam Smith to pressure the refs in this area, maybe even a few smart lines thrown in during the week to give a heads up, the power of Manly's forwards will most certainly bring this to more attention by rival clubs.

Thought it was a great game and Manly were way more dominant than the 12 points suggests. Can't understand why Thommo's try was disallowed? It was an awesome try.
Jealous of everyone that got to Brookie today. Vital to get that win in front of the crowd today.
Next stop, down to Melbourne to wipe the smile off Mr 400 game's face.

Walker caught the ball on the inside shoulder of the lead runner, just poor execution and timing but a penalty everyday of the week.

I get the inside shoulder bit and under the interpretation now it’s definitely a penalty but common sense dictates that how far the receiving player is behind the block player must be taken into account. If he’s tight in behind sure but he was metres away from the block player.

If the receiver was a fullback returning a kick and running behind a player by the same distance with a fast approaching defence it’s never a penalty in general play. NEVER . It’s a joke rule to cater for refereeing incompetence and lack of feel.

Not a single player was impeded either by sight or ability to make a tackle and it was a great rugby league try.

The NRL has created a rod for its own back by making these ridiculous black and white rules to cater for referees who have zero feel for how the game is played.

Another symptom of the damage caused by a rudderless NRL.

The crowd seemed pretty quiet to me on channel nein...

Anyone who was there... was the crowd loud and just poor microphone placement?? Hardly heard the crowd at all..
Good atmosphere but quiet.
