I can see where you're coming from, but I think Lane has been one of our best not only lately but all season and I don't think he should have been dropped to the bench for someone who is lucky to take 4 or 5 hit ups in a full game and quite frankly (pardon the pun), probably wouldn't even be in first grade without the injuries to Siro and Tanginoa.

I don't think that lane moving to the bench can be considered a "dropping" in the modern game .... it is simply a different role .... and one that we have lacked ....

One way to look at it is Frankie will do an OK job (I actually think our shape is better with him) ... but Lane will do a MUCH MUCH better job than Perrett or others have done off the bench ... so an overall upgrade for me ...

Yes we were in the top 4 at one point last year, but once a couple of injuries hit (Siro and Jorge) and the other teams started to get their act together, we almost dropped out of the top 8 entirely and if not for a couple of chokers at the end of the season (we were very nearly one of them), we were in a way lucky to play Finals in 2017. And this year the rot has well and truly set in.

We have reserve grade quality back rowers and centres coming out of our backside. But at hooker and in the halves, especially when you take Hastings out of the equation, we have next to no one. With Api out, we have no one left but either Brown, or a rookie to play hooker (though I think Fainu will go alright), and if anything happens to either or both DCE and Hodko.....we are screwed more than a politician in a brothel.

It's a re-writing of history ...... At the beginning of the year nobody was saying we didn't have enough coverage for hooker .... we had Api, we had some calling for Hastings to start at hooker ..... we had Brown, Lussick and the hooker from the premiership winning 20's as an understudy ...... we had heaps of coverage ...

Then Hastings went all numbnut, ..... and Brown who had previously gone "ok" proved he is sadly is only a shadow of his former self ..... such is life ......

Some of the backrowers Barrett brought in have potential not yet realised such as Lane, Sirro, Sipley, Tanga. I agree the problem has been that they have needed one or two more hard working first grade forwards with experience while these young players develop. Jake, Taupau and AFB are a start but a coule more would make big difference. His selection in the backs has been less worthy. But I don't blame him for taking a chance with Croker and giving Uate a last chance. But again he needed an experienced 5/8 to give the likes of Walker, Kelly, Suli, Taufua, Tom Wright and TT room to move. Bad mistake the club made over the Green issue. That's one position they must resolve for next year and surprisingly one of the young guns we have just may be suited but not yet tried in that post. Next year Barrett must bring in the kids such as Fainu, Anderson and probably Cust to cover half. No more good reserve graders.

Yeah I can see that.

If the 10 weeks for Api is correct and Fainu does ok i can see Fainu being there for the remainder of the year. Oh unless we make the 8 (cough cough)

Reggie stats but this kid goes alright

So, Barrett stacks our squad with inexperienced players of some potential, but when he selects them to play ... it's only because they are the only players in our squad! (Or did you mean something else?)
No... I’m just saying he’s hardly an innovative coach when it comes to team selections. And the reason why there are so many young players with potential at the club is because Bozo signed them up. Take the loss against the Coast in Gladstone for example... instead of taking Tom Wright up there as cover and giving him the chance to experience being around the first grade squad. SuperCoach picks Jono Wright, so when Parker trips over himself in the warm up and gets hurt, instead of being able to give a very talented kid the chance to see what first grade is all about, we’re left with no other option but to allow Wright to steal another NRL game. Lewis Brown is another one... how Barrett ever saw ANYTHING positive when he played Brown in the backline is beyond me, but he just persisted in the hope it might pan out okay. There’s more examples but that’s the gist of it.

But ... but .... but .... this same squad of hopeless plodders came 6th last year and within a shout of top 4 ...... or did they only become plodders this year ......
But ..... but .... but ....... but ....

Ridiculous roster with one specialist hooker and one kicker after three years.Player unrest, ill discopline on and off field,a player he won’t pick , salary cap scandal, no game plan, the most embarrassing kicking game and tactics I’ve ever seen in NRL the last two weeks, absolutely mind numbing press conferences saying the effort is there, disgraceful NRL and junior coaching record......

And when we actually played a semi we dished up the most lacklustre performance against a side we destroyed a week before.

This after 3 years. And I didn’t have to rewrite history. The above is fact.Glad it floats your boat but it doesn’t float mine.

Great rant ... but you didn't explain to me how a team roster on the cusp of the 4 in '17.... can be described as a team roster of plodders in '18 ....

And again you ignore facts ..... in Feb/March we had an agreement with Pearce until GreenTurd jumped in ... there is your 2nd kicker ... we then had Hodko until GreenTurd jumped in ,, there is your 2nd kicker ...but just ignore that ... it doesn't fit your hypothesis ..

Hooker, we had Api .... we had Hastings (who if I recall you favoured ahead of Api) we had Lussick .... we had Fainu the 20's hero ... and we had Brown that had done a fair job of deputising before .... but ignore that ... it doesn't fit your hypothesis .....

The rest is opinion, rumour, conjecture

According to Fox Sports the NRL has blocked Fainu from making his debut saying we have 3 hookers in the club being Wright Brown & Hastings.

Seriously Wright is a Hooker.

Once again this is a Toddy hates Manly decision.
It was only a matter of time. I guess we'll cop a fine for being smartarses too.

And which one of the three has the most talent ? And which one will our intellectual giant of a coach pick???

It's actually quite ridiculous of the club to even request knowing that Wright, Brown and Hastings have all played hooker this year....

Strange one from the club. Amateur hour.

But come on.
How many games have all 3 started at hooker, compared to their normal position.

I feel for young Fainu. We are a really dumb organisation to expect that we would be permitted to play him when we have used three other players already in the 30 in that position. Hastings is fit and available and quite frankly he should be first choice. We are fair dinkum amateurs.

Ohh no please nahh no no!

We need this young dude for he is as a specialist hooker. Brown and Wright are sh!T hookers because they are really bad tacklers most off the time!

Lets get this Hastings in our Hooker as a reward force his good behaviour. Give him a huge bonus if we win.

Now Hastings did they keep doing silly practical jokes on him every day and tease him? Is this why he build up all this anger to smash DCE? Jackson is a quiet introvert kind guy who just needs his space ok? How would DCE like his sho on his foot huh?
