Not happy how DCE drunk walked in and woke Hastings up at 3 in the morning back then. Lane should have pick him up and drop him in the hallway and lock the door. Hastings was behaved not a trouble maker poor guy.

Look, i love Cherry but i love Jackson too! They both require to get this season back and track they are perfect for each other on the field they can be great mates too with little effort.

I guess when they play that position, they qualify to fill that position in the future. How many games is most likely irrelevant.

I don't know the criteria but I bet my left one that the club would know the rules. It almost appears deliberate in my opinion.... But why....

To play the poor Barrett narrative and to keep the injury hype up. Backfired again for the clueless coach.

****ing toddy. So now he's a team selector? Wright, brown and Hastings are not hookers you ****ing wanker. What an absolute cock of a decision. Why the **** is the ****ing CEO even involved in this ****? Hasn't he got more important things to do? Like fix the ****ing game for ****s sake. What an absolute ****.

I agree with every ****ing thing you said

Well we can't be surprised. If you assemble a 30 man squad with no recognised back up hooker and then regularly play part timers in that role, then what do you expect the NRL to do. You can't play Brown, Wright and Hastings in that position over the last two years and then turn around and say they can't play in that position all of a sudden. This situation hasn't just popped up, it's been going on for two seasons

Oh here we go. Theres always someone ready to cloud the issue with facts

From the NRL website:

"The player is currently a development player. In order for him to play in the Telstra Premiership, the club would need to request an exemption based on the circumstances, or alternatively upgrade the player's contract," said an NRL spokesman.

Is it possible Fainu was named in the team without first asking the NRL for special dispensation? Wouldn't surprise me the way the place seems to be run these days.

If that is the case, it's fair enough the NRL would be pissed with protocol not being followed and having 3 top 30 guys cover the #9 this year, we have no right to pick Fainu.

Any way you look at it, none of this is Greenturds fault, it's management's.

100 per cent correct. We made a conscious ridiculous decision to run with one hooker. If we had a specialist back up hooker like every other club and they were injured too, then Fainu would be playing.

I disagree. Until the NRL makes a rule that a club has to list the specialist position for all of the rostered players when they announce their squad then the NRL has no right to say that X player is a specialist in X position.
For example: Hodkinson is a halfback but is playing 5/8 for us. We don't have an uninjured 5/8. Would the NRL insist we play Walker (who is a centre) or Hastings (who is a halfback)?
As long as a rookie's salary fits under the Cap then surely it is up to each club to dictate the specialist position they play.

It's another "grey area" rule for the NRL. We have plenty of players capable of filling in the dummy half role and probably a handful capable of the defensive duties, but as for a traditional number 9 the only true options are Fainu and J. Lussick. Given that the rule exists I can understand why the club thought it would be worth a shot trying to get Fainu in under the rule, especially when it is still very much unknown how well he can perform at an NRL level. That being said there has been mismanagement of the player roster with the Wright's 3 and Parker all taking up spots along with Hastings that could have gone to cover for Api. I will wait and see what the plan is for Saturday's game and the rest of the season before head up to Narrabeen with my torch and pitchfork.

What Barrett doesn't seem to realise is that this is Manly. We don't get favours....not from opposition clubs and fans and certainly not from the NRL.

Bingo.

Its what I've been saying in the Imbecile's thread. Its been piss poor, stupid roster management from the start. And just who is in charge of the roster?

I've give a hint......THE COACH.

We have a 30 player (well, 29 actually) squad.

Out of that, IMO our 13 starters would probably be if every player was fit and available:

Tom Trbojevic, Jorge Taufua, Dylan Walker, Brian Kelly, Akuila Uate, Trent Hodkinson, Daly Cherry-Evans, Martin Taupau, Api Koroisau, Addin Fonua-Blake, Joel Thompson, Curtis Sironen, Jake Trbojevic.

The rest of the squad is:

Lewis Brown - back row / centre / hooker
Lachlan Croker - halves
Tevita Funa - wing
Jack Gosiewski - back row
Jackson Hastings - halves / fullback / hooker
Shaun Lane - back row / prop
Nate Myles - prop
Brad Parker - centre / wing
Taniela Paseka - prop / back row
Lloyd Perrett - prop
Toafofoa Sipley - prop / back row
Moses Suli - centre / wing
Kelepi Tanginoa - back row
Frank Winterstein - back row
Jono Wright - wing / centre
Matt Wright - wing / centre / fullback
Tom Wright - centre / 5/8 / wing

Outside of Hastings, the injured Croker and Tom Wright who the club considers a centre, there is zero halves depth.

Outside of Brown and Hastings, same thing for hooker.

Then you add the injuries. Currently - Walker, Koroisau, Sironen, Croker, Gosiewski, Tanginoa. Then take away Hastings who is banished and Myles who is on a paid Roman Holiday.....and we're actually down to just 22 players.

But hey.....we have a $hitload of front and back rowers and outside backs :clapping:
