They didn’t really defend like it mattered against the raiders. In fact had 30 plus put on them. That said I’ve also watched the last two games and they have improved. Will be interesting to see if they can keep it up. If they can I may start to believe Benji is turning that ship around. But right now two back to back wins does not make a season. Wouldn’t surprise me if they went to Suncorp next week and the Phins put a score on them. It also wouldn’t surprise me if they win three straight. It’s the way this comp is. You don’t turn up each week and any team can beat you, just like us on Saturday.
Don’t we know it…

Good on the Tigers, love seeing anyone beat the Eels.
But also, 2 points for the bye is stupid.
2 points for the bye, 0 points for the bye, both are equally stupid but it's hardly a big issue.

Best way to fix it to get that 18th team sorted. Otherwise if it really was an issue you go %s like they do in the NBA

The Wests Tigers are in crisis with revelations their two best young players – Lachlan Galvin and Stefano Utoikamanu – both want out after Friday night’s embarrassing capitulation to St George-Illawarra.

The pair are unhappy and disgruntled after nine straight losses and the likelihood of three straight wooden spoons.

Galvin was overheard in the Wests Tigers dressing room after the 56-14 loss to the Dragons saying that he wanted to quit, despite being under contract until the end of 2026.

Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson confirmed on Saturday night that Galvin’s manager Isaac Moses had approached the club on Thursday seeking a release.

“We have no intention of releasing him,” Richardson said, “It’s as simple as that.

“It’s disappointing that the request has been made but I’m going to have a meeting with his mum and dad next week.

“I think there’s a lot of reasons behind it.

Images
“He’s a young kid, we’re not winning games, and he’s finding it difficult.

“All I can say we have Jarome Luai coming next year and we’ll have him, Api (Koroisau) and Jahream Bula in the spine.

“We have a contract in place with Lachlan and we intend to hold him to it.”

Meanwhile the club’s hopes of retaining boom Utoikamanu are diminishing by the day – and money is not the issue.

It’s more about his future development as a player in the right system under the right coach.

While CEO Richardson was recently spending three weeks in the UK, up to eight rival NRL clubs were expressing interest in the former Parramatta Eels junior.

Utoikamanu becomes a free agent under a clause in his contract that makes him a free agent if he is not chosen in the NSW Blues team for the final two games.

The eight clubs have contacted Utoikamanu’s manager Daniel O’Loughlin with expressions of interest should he decide to activate the clause.

The Wests Tigers have offered him $4 million over five years to stay at Concord.

However Utoikamanu is looking for more than the cash.

He’s sat back and watched ex-teammates – the likes of Shawn Blore, Luke Garner, Luke Brooks, Tommy Talau and Billy Walters – improve and develop their games at other clubs.

Utoikamanu would have the choice of playing under a Wayne Bennett, Cameron Ciraldo, Shane Flanagan, Trent Robinson or risk staying at a club that is now facing its third straight wooden spoon.

You can understand why he might be looking to get out.

10 games into your career and you’re asking for a release from a contract not due to end until ‘26.Interesting

Not good form really after the Tigers have backed him to get his debut..

We are in need of a backrower, I think with a couple of good off seasons the backrow will be Galvin’s best position.

This is exactly why we aren't dumb to be signing Tigers players. It's not the players who are crap, it's the system.

He didn’t play well against the Dragons, had limited runs and didn’t go looking for tge ball in attack.

Agree we should get him back at Manly..
There was a snippet from Aaron Woods where he mentioned he was a “hot head” found it interesting as it was unprompted and could be a reason they were happy to let him go

Also guess who Galvin is managed by…

He’s not that good yet and reeks of the same hubris that The Schu claims…

It’s only the media but if true Galvin drops in my opinion with trash talk like that. What a quitter.

Say what you will about Reece Walsh but his ability always backs his showboating and in a consistent way which is refreshing.

Who the hell allows a clause like that. Wow that's just stupidity 101 but then again it is the Tigpies. As for Galvin he's kidding. 10 games and he's ready to give up on the place. He's now tainted his character.

He is very young. Who hasn’t said or done something at that age that they later regret?

I still have regrets about things I said or did last week!

A team with consecutive wooden spoons. It's not that hard to believe. They have to do whatever they can to convince players to either sign on or stay put. You can image the last time Stefano's contract was negotiated, he was keen to explore his options and further his career at a club with better systems and success. The Tigers probably had no choice but to back themselves and insert a clause that essential says 'we guarantee your career will prosper and you'll have success here at the Tigers, and if not, you're free to leave'. It looks stupid now that they're struggling but its probably (a) the only thing that kept him there and (b) they managed to get another couple of seasons out of him. Basically, no stupid clause = bye bye Stefano two years ago.

Just waiting for Api to drop of in intensity, and it'll come with further defeats. When that happens Benji wont have any place to hide.
Benji, should be the one shown the door, his not a coach and it’s pretty easy to see the boys don’t buy into his process, any other coach on the back of 9 straight and player discontent would be shown the door or gone, better to look at replacing Benji than having your star players want out. Very sad for the Tigers fans.

Yeah, I am sure you're right but there definitely appears to be a culture in the game nowadays, where young players with no runs on the board behave in ways that suggest they're selfish and entitled. I always marvel at these players that demand success of their club or else...I wonder if they've ever considered they ARE the club? Or least a very significant part of it. The individuals on the field are every bit as responsible as the others they hold accountable. I didn't see a great performance from Galvin the other night. Should his teammates demand more of him, or else?!
