Match Stats

We were poor yesterday, very little decent field possession and when we had it, execution was off in between errors etc.

It’ll be a huge task off the bye given Keppie will be on the sidelines for a few weeks, Saddler will be out of action for a long time (surely Marty isn’t charged!).

We need to see some reinforcements come in. Fingers crossed we have Cust, Walker, Sironen, Foran, Schuster (slight calf strain with what Des mentioned yesterday) back.

The only positive is that Origin is likely to be played in Townsville so Jake, Tom and Daly will not have to travel.
best case scenario is Daly and Jake back up.

Highly doubt they’ll pick Tom at all.
Cowboys game is at brookie mate

Yeah stupid game. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. We didn’t play well but the reffing was an absolute joke. Almost impossible to win a game with that much momentum
Against you. But like the 2013 GF. When 20 - 30 calls don’t go your way and you have no field position you get tired and flustered make mistakes etc and lose the game. Barely worth even analysing that game as we couldn’t get any rythmn. Knights should have won by 40 with that many penalties and possession

Sorry they all will have to travel game is at Brookvale oval Friday June 11th 6pm 2 days are orgin 1 not played up in Townsville.

The Referee will:

a) Officiate the game with a minimal of bias, with a consistent application of the rules to both sides, and ensure that the game is a fair contest between two sides reflective of their efforts.

or

b) Will use every subjective rule to punish one team only according to his or her own bias, or those in positions above him/her. Will destroy any sense of a fair contest by continually penalising one team only, or by allowing one team to go unpunished (or a combination of both).

IN essence the ref will either:
a) Not cheat
b) Cheat

And if we didn't know before, we all know now which category cummings falls into.

( choices 'a' and 'b' attached as a form of "Allegedly")
Makes you wonder about the selection criteria to become an NRL referee, are they just ****ing useless or are they following orders. Anybody who thinks they're not deciding outcomes is extremely naive and they're not even subtle about it. They've been doing it for years. Anybody have a large win on yesterdays game?

The thing to remember with this game as well is whilst we were poor at times, we also had to contend with 20 minutes playing with a man down due to two sin bins, Marty and Taniela both going off for HIAs, Saddler going to hospital just into the second half, a 10-1 penalty count and the below casualty list:

Walker, Schuster, Foran, Cust, Aloiai, Sironen, Haumole, Gosiewski, Davey, Boyle.

Whilst some in that list wouldn’t get into the 17, most would.

Frustrating game and outcome for Manly but even allowing for the obvious ill discipline and inconsistent adjudicating , still can not fathom the reasoning for starting with Funa as a 6 and with no previous experience there . Always seemed hard for Manly to get on the front foot in this type of game but should have had Croker or Lawton there . Not knocking Funa in general and really should not have been put in a key position . Fair enough with the other factors that really worked against Manly and lack of quality possession and momentum , but just made it too hard on themselves . Whole hearted defensive effort but fair to say also that Manly blew that game , more then the knights winning it

So you hate DCE. Good for you and that’s certainly your freedom of choice.

I chose to support our captain, bad games and good. Even Turbo was ordinary yesterday as well as a few others including the diabolical refereeing (not DCE’S first 2 sets). DCE is still a blue chip half irrespective of his sometimes headless chicken stuff.

Apart from Cleary, there is no other half worthy of the Manly number 7!

DCE got 1 point in Dally M votes in a losing team so can’t have been that bad.

100% moondog, I’m sure there were a few, there is a foul odour, smells very similar to the race track

Forget refs and sin bins the knights were there for the taking. Our good footy was a couple of moments as opposed to portions of the game. If we had of applied pressure for a 10 or 15 minute period at any stage thoughout the game we get the lollies

Our mid field bomb attack was bog ordinary and its hard to see what purpose it has when no chaser can get near them due to traffic the opposition puts in the way knowing we are going to mid field bomb every time. We rarely encroach on there 30 m line with or without the breeze giving them more attacking options at the end of there set

At no point did we win the arm wrestle with forward or boot as there kicks were always deeper than ours and we started our raids deep in our own terrirory compared to the knights

There kicks against the wind were better than our kicks with the win mostly. Frog and cherry put 3 decent long kicks in but just seemed to overlook how succesful those momemts were in pushing back the tide and went one out and bombed and bom ed

We are an effort team . We bust our gut week after week trying to smash our way down field without engaging the brain too often. No wonder we have so many injuries

While yesterdays initial kick off was waaaay short i get the wind was a contributor but it started the rot. If you have noticed every week lately we have one of these bog average kick offs that give the opposition a major leg up in field position. Its the 1% plays that we have to make up with effort.

I called out DCE for the first two sets of the game where our last tackle options were diabolical IMO. I then got called out by the hero keyboard warrior shortly after when DCE did one of his sporadic magical things... I missed most of the game after this point but came back to read the result. Obviously, I was way off questioning DCE's leadership when needed and it was just the refs, right?
I copped it too mate. Wear it like a badge of honour. Anyone can do whats popular. Calling out what you see without needing validation From randoms is better. We needed DCE to lead that game . It was his turn

PS you were right. That and the awful kick off to start the game has us bunkered down from the onset

We did not lose it due to kicks mate, I know your trying to put it on DCE again, i get it, every loss its the same from you.

The wind was a LOT stronger in the first half, and the kicks we were doing in the second half were fine. A few unlucky bounces and could of had 2 or 3 40-20. And the mid field bombs were fine, they were difficult catches and they almost spilled a few, and then they were running it out from their own 10-20m from there. Cherry was often kicking from half way, never had much chance for an attacking kick to the corners.

We were flat around the ruck, the game was slowed down with too many penalties and stoppages, we played with basically 2 on the bench and for 60 mins with 12 on the field, and they were constantly given piggy back penalties out of trouble.

When we did get on a roll, the game was stopped twice by their trainer. Also, when we did put in good kicks and had them pinned and forced the error we dropped it on first tackle.

How can you build pressure when you are on the back foot for the whole game. Come on mate. Funa at 5/8 was a massive wrong call too, just got in the way. Should of been crocker at 5/8 and Lawton at hooker.

Good one james, full of **** as always. You deserve to cop it. Well warranted.

Wear it like a badge of honor LOL. Your a goose. You bag DCE after every loss and wear it like a badge of honor. Its how you come across too, enjoy bagging him out every opportunity.

He got 1 point in the MVP on a losing side

Totally agree .... I said before the game Funa to five eight was either a Des masterstroke or a Des brain fart .... whats that smell?

I said yesterday before a ball was kicked, we need Croker at 6 and Lawton at 9.. simple as that. Is Croker a world beater at 6...no, but he atleast knows the job and could have taken SOME of the kicks and 5th tackle options off DCE . And Lawton at 9 is better than Croker at 9 imo.
We lacked any sort of creative spark yesterday and playing a winger at 6, a hooker at backrow and half and 9 certainly didn't help us any

If we lose Keppie and Marty for a couple of games , then the next few , after SOO as well, are going to bring us right back to the pack.

Yesterday’s game was so important as it gave us a bit of a buffer.

A very costly loss given the other circumstances.
